Because they do not depend on entering those (states), so in the time of samadhi, giving and so forth are placed in a state of equanimity. However, in the preparatory and concluding stages, they do enter. Therefore, in the Holy Ratnakuta Sutra, it is also said: 'Monks, Bodhisattvas should not fixate on the nature of giving itself, nor should they not give.' and so forth, is extensively taught. Therefore, in the Holy Prajnaparamita Sutra and so forth, it is taught that the result of giving and so forth, based on faith in emptiness and non-attachment, is very great and is completely pure. As it is said: 'Subhuti, what do you think? Is it easy to measure the eastern sky?' Subhuti replied: 'Bhagavan, it is not.' 'Subhuti, likewise, the merit of a Bodhisattva who gives without attachment is also not easy to measure.' and so forth, is taught. The word 'giving' here is considered to be all six perfections, because there is the saying 'the six perfections of giving.' In the Holy Ratnakara Sutra, it is also said: 'Bodhisattvas, whose wisdom is extremely peaceful, should practice for the sake of enlightenment, and should understand that all dharmas are without inherent existence. Giving should also be understood as without inherent existence. The receiver should also be understood as without inherent existence. The object of giving should also be understood as without inherent existence. Dedication should also be understood as without inherent existence. The one who dedicates should also be understood as without inherent existence. The place to which one dedicates should also be understood as without inherent existence.' Why is that? Because giving is empty of the nature of giving. Likewise, the receiver, the object of giving, the result of giving, the complete dedication, and the nature of enlightenment should also be applied in the same way. In this way, faith in emptiness, through the door of immeasurable intention, will make the perfection of giving completely pure, and that giving will also obtain the name of the perfection of giving, and will also become true and not false.

Thus it is extensively explained. In this way, giving, etc., which rely correctly on non-objectification, are because of the great fruit and because of being completely pure, the fruit of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment is like being in the palm of one's hand. Therefore, the opportunity for objectification is only prolonged. What meaning is intended by saying that all phenomena are without intrinsic nature? If it is without intrinsic nature because of being without self, then at that time it becomes a mere repetition of what is already established, and so forth. Even if it is established as being without intrinsic nature merely because of being without self, there is no contradiction, and it is not a mere repetition of what is already established. If the intrinsic nature of things were truly existent, then being dependent on others and not existing previously would also be unreasonable, because existence and non-existence are contradictory even sequentially for one thing. Therefore, these things, in reality, are only without intrinsic nature by way of an intrinsic nature that depends on others, like an illusion. It has already been shown that intrinsic nature is not something that is made. These are also not existent from others in reality, because this has already been thoroughly proven, so how could it be a mere repetition of what is already established? In conventional terms, these engage as being of a nature dependent on others, so there is no fault of being eternally existent, and so forth. Thus, if things have intrinsic nature by their own nature, then it is impossible for them to be non-existent by their own nature, and similarly, it is unreasonable for them to abide in their own intrinsic nature, because it is contradictory. It is unreasonable for one truly existent intrinsic nature of a thing to possess contradictory qualities such as existence and non-existence, abiding and non-abiding, and so forth. Therefore, since these are without their own nature and do not abide in their own intrinsic nature, they clearly and manifestly appear as being without intrinsic nature, so how could it be a mere repetition of what is already established? If it is without intrinsic nature by way of the intrinsic nature of what is imputed, then it is also not a mere repetition of what is already established, because it has already been proven that what is refuted by valid cognition is the intrinsic nature of what is imputed. The arising of things, in reality, is also what is refuted by valid cognition.
