It is fully shown that one can attain the state of enlightenment. Therefore, the voice of the Tathagata is considered to be naturally luminous, characterized by the selflessness of persons and phenomena in the realm of Dharma. As it is said, it is to fully show that everything is the very nature of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Furthermore, the so-called "vehicle" refers to the very nature of knowing the only path to the city of Nirvana, because one goes from here. Only by knowing that very truth can liberation be attained, but not by other means. That very truth is also only one, otherwise it would lead to endless faults. Although views may differ, there is no following of the nature of the one and only truth of things. Therefore, the wisdom that has the object of the one and only nature is also only of the one and only nature. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, those who have correctly understood this very truth, their wisdom is also the object of manifesting that very truth, because in all aspects it is the antidote to universal ignorance. Fragmentary knowledge cannot realize this very truth, because it would lead to too extreme a fault. If that were the case, everything would be able to see this very truth. Therefore, the wisdom that directly perceives the very truth of the selflessness of persons and phenomena is the correct path to attain Nirvana, and not otherwise, therefore there is only one vehicle. Therefore, the Blessed One taught that there is no liberation through other paths. As the Holy Lankavatara Sutra says: "Thus, Mahamati, other beings, seeing that all dharmas depend on causes and conditions, arise with the desire to attain Nirvana. Mahamati, those who do not see the selflessness of dharmas have no liberation. Mahamati, this is the lineage of the realization of the Hearers' Vehicle, giving rise to the thought of certainty for those who are not certain. Mahamati, in order to dispel these evil views, one should diligently practice yoga." As the Holy Perfection of Wisdom Sutra says:

Yang! Subhuti, duality is substance. Non-duality is non-substance. The question is, Blessed One, what is meant by "duality"? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, perceiving form as such is duality. Similarly, perceiving aggregates, elements, contact, feeling, the six elements, dependent origination, meditative absorption, the formless, suffering, selflessness, happiness, sentient beings, and so forth, is duality, as extensively explained. To the extent that there is perception, to that extent there is duality. To the extent that there is duality, to that extent there is substance. To the extent that there is substance, to that extent there is samsara. To the extent that there is samsara, to that extent sentient beings are not liberated. Therefore, it should be understood that with this method, there should not even be acceptance that is in accordance with perceiving duality in this way. Furthermore, in the Holy Scripture "Entering the Two Truths," it is taught that the root of all afflictions is attachment to things as real, and therefore, only by meditating on the lack of inherent existence of all phenomena can afflictions be abandoned, and not by any other means. Manjushri, how are afflictions subdued? How are afflictions fully known? Manjushri said: In the ultimate sense, all phenomena are substances that are utterly unborn and unarisen. In the conventional sense, from what is not existent there arises perversion, and from perversion of what is not existent, conceptualization and discrimination arise. From conceptualization and discrimination, inappropriate attention arises. From inappropriate attention, the imputation of self arises. From the imputation of self, the entanglement of views arises. From the entanglement of views, afflictions arise. Son of the gods, whoever understands that all phenomena are utterly unborn and unarisen in the ultimate sense, that understanding is not a perversion in the ultimate sense. Whoever is not perverted in the ultimate sense does not conceptualize or discriminate. Whoever does not conceptualize or discriminate has entered the proper way. Whoever

That which enters in that way will not cling to what is not ultimately existent. Whoever does not cling to what is not ultimately existent will not give rise to any views, not even to the view of ultimate nirvana. Abiding in the unborn, one sees the afflictions as extremely visible in an invisible way; this is called subduing the afflictions. Son of the gods, when afflictions are thoroughly known by the wisdom and knowledge of non-appearance, as utterly empty in the ultimate sense, utterly without characteristics, and when things are thoroughly known as utterly unborn and unarisen in the ultimate sense, then, son of the gods, afflictions are completely known in a way that is not known. Son of the gods, for example, whoever extracts the venom of a snake pacifies the poison. Son of the gods, whoever thoroughly knows the kinds of afflictions will become thoroughly pacified in a way that the afflictions are utterly imperceptible. Son of the gods said: Manjushri, what are the kinds of afflictions? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, in the ultimate sense, whatever conceptualization there is about all phenomena as things that are utterly unborn and unarisen, this is the kind of afflictions that was spoken of. Therefore, whoever will definitely enter the excellent city, it is only by meditating on the emptiness of all things, so for that purpose, those who delight in goodness should cut off the stream of discrimination towards the evil path and always respectfully rely on that which is clearly explained by the great beings with reasoning and the collection of scriptural lamps, and which is spoken and followed by all wise beings. Therefore, only the one vehicle, and all phenomena are established as only being empty of inherent existence in the ultimate sense. The treatise called "Madhyamaka Aloka (The Light of the Middle Way)" composed by the teacher Kamalashila is complete. Translated, revised, and finalized by the abbot Shantarakshita and the translator Paltsheg. Madhyamaka Aloka.
