Just as things abide like illusions, it is said that 'this arises because of this' relying solely on conventional truth. However, this teaching does not abandon the three kinds of conceptualization, nor is it understood to rely on the fourth kind of conceptualization. Therefore, it is not reasonable for things to arise from others even in ultimate truth. Therefore, it is better not to examine all these arising of phenomena, just like the appearance of illusions, because they are merely false. As it is said: If the effect arises from the undestroyed, then there is nothing from which the effect arises. But if it arises from the destroyed, then from what does the effect arise? It is impossible for the effect to arise from the seed, whether it is destroyed or not. Arising is like the arising of illusions; all these are spoken by that. Therefore, some teachers say that in ultimate truth, the inner sources of arising do not arise from other conditions, because they are other. For such reasoning, there is no doubt about the reversal, because in the dissimilar side, there exists a valid cognition that has the harm as it is said, just like establishing that conditioned things are impermanent. For establishing foolishness and so on, because otherness does not have any valid cognition that has the harm on the dissimilar side, therefore for this it becomes uncertain. One should establish the negation of arising, but not for the one that has a valid cognition that has the harm on the dissimilar side. In conventional truth, merely establishing otherness, therefore it is not an unestablished reason, because the reason and so on have become real things, so it has not been established anywhere in the establishment of conventional truth, as has been shown before. Therefore, some people say that this is uncertain and unestablished, which is irrelevant. The non-Buddhist proponents say that the cause of the term 'other' and so on is actually just such a real thing as otherness and so on. To those, the teacher says: The nature of things, conditions and so on do not exist. Thus, it is explained to refute, therefore, that will show that it does not arise from others because otherness is not established by the system. Those words such as 'other' also have the meaning of the object of the imputed activity through imputation.

Those that only state the ultimate things, if they exist in dependent arising as the nature of things, then it is not birth, thinking this, they are refuted. If they exist in conditions and so on, then the self-nature of things does not arise in reality, just as it has just been extensively explained. Therefore, when all things should not arise from others in reality, then conditions and so on are also not established because they are unborn, truly speaking, for what does this sound become ultimate, there is nothing that becomes another object. Therefore, even if such a statement is not established in reality, yet there is no harm to things, what is said in this way is unreasonable. Those who speak of the Samkhya school, the chief deity, and the great Ishvara, etc., when they say that things arise from the chief deity and the great Ishvara, etc., from themselves and others, those factions that are close to stating are refuted by the fault of stating separately, so it is unreasonable. Others sometimes say that they arise from both due to their own will, those are also refuted by two faults, so it is only a rebuke. Therefore, some say that the object of the nature of both is contrary to valid cognition, no one has admitted even slightly, therefore, you think of refuting arising from that, it is only your own ignorance, it has only become a laughing stock. What is said in this way is because that person does not fully understand himself and the tenets, and does not understand the meaning of the words, therefore, those words are what the wise should especially rebuke. Others use the example of thorns, etc., sharpness, etc., to closely state that all things truly arise only without cause. For this, their things arise without cause, for what is to be established as reality, the example is not established, because in reality all dharmas are unborn. For what is to be established as conventionally, it is also not established, like this, thorns, etc., arise from their own seeds, etc., this is determined by direct perception, and similarly it also determines their sharpness, etc., so nothing arises without cause.
