All reasons, their own nature and basis are not established. The subject of the example is also not established, because in all places, refutation and examination are the same. Furthermore, for the time being, the reason of the effect cannot establish its object, because it would become the fault of mutual dependence. If the objects of cause and effect are established, then it becomes the reason of the effect; if the reason of the effect is truly established, then the objects of cause and effect are established, so mutual dependence becomes even more obvious. The reason of nature, because the subject is not established, how can it be applied? Even if the subject is allowed to be established, for the purpose of establishing the truly existent objects of cause and effect, the pervasion of the reason is not established anywhere, because in all places, refutation and examination are the same. Furthermore, if you say, 'If it exists, then it exists,' in order to truly establish cause and effect, then that is also mistaken, because although all beings that exist simultaneously with its cause exist, it is not possible for it to be its cause. However, if you say that it is only with the concomitance and exclusion of the permanent that the reason 'if it exists, then it exists' is determined, and not with the moment, then that is also not reasonable here, because this is the time when the truly existent cause and effect are established, because the truly existent permanent is not established apart from the moment. If a certain moment of the effect is conceived to exist when a certain moment of the cause exists, then all the moments included in everything that exists simultaneously with it are also existent, just as it is seen when its own moment of cause exists, and not seen when it does not exist, so all the moments included in everything that exists simultaneously with its moment of cause are also seen when it exists, and not seen when it does not exist, so why would it not become its cause? Furthermore, in 'because it exists, therefore it exists,' if the word 'it' refers to a subject that has become the cause of another phenomenon, then for the time being, it is not manifestly established in reality, as has been said before.

Moreover, it is impossible to establish the subject of a proposition (chos can) through inference, because all reasons for establishing existence do not go beyond three faults. Thus, if the subject of a proposition is not established, then a property that exists cannot be a reason. A property that does not exist is also not reasonable because it is contradictory. A property of both is confused, because it also exists in dissimilar instances. Any other form of what is to be established does not exist. If that is not established, then if the other exists, existence itself is not established, because it depends on that. The establishment of a result is also impossible to be the same as that. Therefore, here, through the reason of inherent nature, the entities of cause and effect are not established. It is also not through the way of non-apprehension, because all of that is only negation and affirmation. Whatever establishes the entities of cause and effect, saying that it is not apprehended in direct perception, for that which is said, the term 'non-apprehension' is understood to be only the direct perception of the nature of apprehension other than that, not inference. That is also as previously stated, like not being interrupted. Furthermore, for the object of apprehension, whatever non-apprehension, if it exists, then correctly seeing, that is its result, thus through the subsequent way, saying that the entities of cause and effect are established, for that, in reality, there is only doubt. Does it exist only if that exists? Or is it that unseen meat-eaters, etc., have approached? Or is it that another entity existing far away is due to the power of proximity? Thus, there is doubt. Through the object of apprehension, by way of non-apprehension, that will prevent coming from another place and existing previously, but it is not the result of another. If it exists, then existence itself will also become arbitrary, because it is not the case that one does not accept that entities existing far away, such as the moon, are the entities of the cause of eye consciousness, etc. Whatever other causes of it are capable, if something is missing from them, then what is missing is its result, thus through the way of refutation, saying that it is established, for that, in reality, there is only doubt.
