It is the attachment to thoughts that fall into self-characteristics and general characteristics. So, what is the wisdom that transcends the world? It is that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas thoroughly distinguish the Dharma of non-appearance, because they see that there is no birth and no cessation, so it is to be separated from the edges of existence and non-existence. So it is said. The Hearers, etc., who are gathered by the true conventional truth, meditate on the appearance of self-characteristics and general characteristics of the aggregates, etc., because they are only guided to the selflessness of persons, so they call that wisdom as having the object of things, but it is not the ultimate truth. If the object of the wisdom of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas becomes the self-characteristic of the object of the ultimate truth, then how can that wisdom be separated from the edge of existence at that time? Therefore, in order to completely eliminate the place of fear for children, it is said that the object of the wisdom of the noble ones is real, but it is not because it has the self-characteristic of the ultimate truth. If it is not like this, then how can Buddhas and Bodhisattvas not be connected with the conceptualization of existence? Just as it is said to eliminate the fear of children, but it is not because the object of the ultimate truth is real. All of these, the Blessed One has also determined in other sutras. As it is said in the "Holy Lankavatara Sutra": Thus, the Blessed One, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati asked: Blessed One, why do you first stop the views of beings about existence and non-existence, and then say that the object of the wisdom of the noble ones is real, so that they dwell in the view of clinging to the reality of the object of the wisdom of the noble ones, and the Dharma of tranquility that is said also becomes non-existent? The Blessed One replied: Mahamati, I declare the self-nature of the object of the wisdom of the noble ones, and I will not make the Dharma of tranquility that is said non-existent, nor will I make them dwell in the view of reality. Mahamati, however, I am for the self-nature of things from the beginningless time of beings.

In order to completely eliminate the fear of those who are attached to the nature of things, the realm of noble wisdom teaches a Dharma that is completely separated from the view of the nature of attachment to the nature of things. Great wisdom, I do not easily reveal the nature of things. Great wisdom, however, if you understand as it is, you will abide in the Dharma of separation, thus extensively speaking. Therefore, whatever is shown as the self-nature of things in the realm of noble wisdom, this is only shown by the Bhagavan through skillful means. Therefore, those who do not truly grasp the way of the Bhagavan's true teachings, but falsely and with arrogance, if they think that things have self-nature, then they are slandering the Bhagavan, destroying themselves, and also destroying others. As it is said in that very sutra, those who are so attached to the nature of things are simply unable to be liberated because they are attached to self and so on. As it is said: Great wisdom, furthermore, they try to transcend with the branches of the three measures, and separately think that there is a self-nature of things that is liberated from the two self-natures, which needs to be individually realized by noble wisdom. Great wisdom, yogis transform the place of mind, intellect, and consciousness, abandoning the appearance of their own mind, and the conceptual thoughts of grasping and being grasped. The Tathagata's ground, which is individually realized by noble wisdom, does not allow the perception of things and non-things. Great wisdom, if yogis were to engage in grasping things and non-things in such objects, then they would grasp at self, grasp at life, grasp at a person, and grasp at a pudgala, as it is said. Furthermore, if there were something truly existent, then it would inevitably become either permanent or impermanent in nature, because there can be no other difference in the nature of things. For things, permanence and impermanence

The wisdom that enters through the mode of examination, because it accords with realizing the self-nature of things as they are, will only become true wisdom, and not something that is disguised as Prajnaparamita. Therefore, this would also contradict what the Blessed One said in the Noble Prajnaparamita. In it, it says, "Kaushika, when those sons and daughters of good families teach Prajnaparamita, they also teach something that is disguised as Prajnaparamita." What is disguised as Prajnaparamita? It is teaching that form is impermanent. Similarly, it also teaches that it is suffering, selfless, and impure. Similarly, it also teaches feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness. Similarly, it also teaches aggregates, elements, sense bases, meditative stabilizations, immeasurables, formless absorptions, mindfulness, perfect abandonments, miraculous legs, faculties, powers, branches of enlightenment, as well as the ten powers of the Tathagata, fearlessness, separate correct knowledge, unshared Buddha-dharmas, and all-aspect knowledge is impermanent, is suffering, is selfless, is impure. In this way, whoever acts in this way is also teaching that they are practicing Prajnaparamita. Kaushika, this is what is disguised as Prajnaparamita. So, what is not disguised as Prajnaparamita? That is, it is taught in this way: "Son of good family, come here! Practice Prajnaparamita, and do not truly observe that form is impermanent," up to "all-aspect knowledge is suffering, selfless, and impure." Why is that? Because the self-nature of form is emptiness. What is the self-nature of form? It is non-substantial. What is non-substantial?
