If someone asks: It's like clinging to illusions, and admitting that having consciousness is permanent, and so on. If that's the case, then it's not right, because these arise gradually. Causes that don't depend on causes, and causes and natures that are always present, contradict gradual arising. Therefore, because of discriminating about things and so on, it can be inferred that the things that first appear in this life also arise from the habitual imprints of being accustomed to similarity. Just as beings from small to large, are different from each other with differences such as small, medium, and large, arise from the power of habit, just like discriminating about things and so on. Therefore, the beginningless samsara can be established. Through this, the inference of future samsara has also been explained. Just like this, for the dying mind that has not separated from desire, because it is related to the reversed habitual imprints of clinging to self and what belongs to self, it can be connected by other minds. Because that is similar to the previously arisen mind, the proof is clear. Therefore, views of permanence and annihilation, etc., exist for a long time in this treatise. Transformation and accordance, are like seeds, sprouts, shoots, etc. In ultimate truth, there is absolutely no case of permanence and annihilation. Because these two depend on things, if things exist, then they exist behind them. Relying on conventional truth, if the previous moment disappears, then other moments will arise, therefore things have no beginning and end. Because it is similar to what the outsiders desire, these two will not become very real. Here it says: If it exists, things will become permanent; if it doesn't exist, it will definitely become annihilated. Because things change whether they exist or not, therefore things are not acknowledged. Because things arise naturally, therefore it will not become annihilated. Because things change, therefore it will not become permanent. Because those rely on Bodhi, therefore they will not admit that they do not exist in meaning. Not doing things that do not conform to people's hearts, how can those think that they do not exist? It is also said in the 《Ratnamegha Sutra》: How is a Bodhisattva proficient in the Mahayana? That is, the Bodhisattva also studies all the trainings, and does not cling to the study, and does not cling to the path of the training, and does not cling to what is being studied, because of that cause and that condition.

And it is said that it should not be regarded as annihilationism. Furthermore, in that very text, it is said: Son of good family, the Bodhisattva discerns form, feeling, thought, formations, and consciousness with correct wisdom. When he discerns form, he does not see the arising of form, he does not see its source, and he does not see its cessation. The arising of feeling, thought, formations, and consciousness is not seen, their source is not seen, and their cessation is not seen. This is also accomplished through the wisdom that contemplates the absence of arising in the ultimate sense, but not in the nature of conventional truth. This is what is to be fully shown. Liberation is also easily attained in this scripture. Like this: The wise who are selfless in Dharma, By habituating to selflessness, From what arises from perversion, Abandon afflictions without effort. In the Samadhi of the Moon Lamp, it says this: Therefore, he does not truly see what is clung to, where it is clung to, and the Dharma by which it is clung to. Here it is also said: If one admits that there are things, Intolerable greed and hatred will arise. Completely holding wrong views, From that arises dispute. That is the root of all views, Without it, afflictions do not arise. Therefore, if that is fully known, Views and afflictions will fully arise. If someone asks, who will know that? It is by seeing dependent arising. The Supreme Knower said that what arises dependently is unborn. Know. Furthermore, regarding the objection to the mode of selflessness, what are the afflictions? What are the pervasive afflictions of karma and birth? What is purification? What is the connection between karma and its result? What is inference? And what are the names of what is to be inferred, and so on? What are the entities of cause and effect of the limbs of existence, such as ignorance and formations? By practicing the antidote, by taking very seriously the arising of states incompatible with afflictions, and the ripening of virtuous and non-virtuous actions, the arising of pleasant and unpleasant things, and whatever is truly as it is, That is the cause of such a sign-mind, From that arises such a thing, Therefore, through it
