Just like that. In the special statement, it is also said: "Like a flower blooming on the Udumbara tree, For all sentient beings, seeing them as without essence, This monk has reached the other shore that is not the other shore, Like a snake shedding its skin, abandoning the old body." Thus it was declared. If it is promised that all dharmas are without self-nature, then, since the dharmas of direction, etc., are not established from themselves, wouldn't inference and the name of what is to be inferred not be established? Therefore, how does the inferrer make a decision? If, again, the reason for establishing that all dharmas are without self-nature is not stated, then, at that time, since it is not established without a reason, the desired meaning is not established. If it is said, then there is a reason, but even so, since all dharmas are not established as without self-nature, the desired meaning is not established. Why is this? Just like this, "By the distinctions produced by the treatises, Having abandoned the subject of dharma, among the wise and, Between women and children, For all things that have become famous, This entity of proof and that which is to be proven, Arise completely and truly. If not, the basis is not established, Etc., how should the answer be given? I do not negate the nature of appearance, Therefore, the establishment of the proof and, What is to be proven is without confusion." All names of inference and what is to be inferred are born from schools established by mutual incompatibility, completely abandoning different subjects of dharma, relying on the nature of appearance in the consciousness of the eye, ear, etc., between the wise, women, and children, on the subject of dharma such as sound, etc. If it is not like this, then the basis of all the reasons for wanting to establish fire such as smoke and existence, and impermanence, etc., will not be established, because the limbs of the subject of proof and the nature of the qualities of space, etc., are not established. In that case, the subject of the example that possesses both dharmas will also not be established. If others also acknowledge names of proof and what is to be proven like this, then, in that case, what is the use of the fame of surpassing the wise? Just like this, without looking at one's own school, one only speaks of the faults of other schools. I am also for the consciousness of the eye, etc.

Although the nature of appearing objects is not eliminated, if examined with wisdom and insight, like the trunk of a tree by the water, not even a trace of essence appears, therefore it is not accepted as ultimately true. Therefore, not negating the meaning of appearance itself is the establishment of non-apprehension, and since the term 'establishment' is applied, there is no harm in saying that all phenomena are without inherent existence. As it is said: If one does not rely on the suffering of clinging, then terminology will be easily established, and if one is skilled in terminology, then one will not be ignorant of the meaning of the scriptures. This is like that. Those who rule by hating the ultimate truth, say this: Viewing all phenomena as without inherent existence is like being crowned from the head as viewing as emptiness. Thus, they slander cause and effect, uprooting virtue with wrong views, this hail-like evil result and sky-flower, those who desire good should abandon far away. For the sake of refuting them, this is said: Therefore, from beginningless samsara, the similar seeds of distinguishing between existence and non-existence exist, and should be inferred. This does not arise from the power of things, because it does not exist. The nature of things is greatly negated. Because it arises gradually, it is not sudden. It does not arise constantly, so it is not permanent. Therefore, because of the similarity of habituation, it arises first from its own kind. Thus, in the ultimate truth, all these things are free from all elaboration. For those who are not pure-minded towards such things, thoughts of existence and non-existence arise, and those also come from the beginningless continuum of karma and samsara, etc. If one abandons the similar seeds, there is no other cause. Those are not produced by the power of the object, because the nature of things such as existence and non-existence is greatly negated. If the cause of the seed of one's own kind does not exist, then what else is there? Then is there no cause of birth, or is it born from a permanent cause, or does the permanent self exist? How can one say that it arises suddenly, and the...
