Because of constant uniformity. If this is known by delusion, then what delusion does it depend on? If it arises by its power, then that too is another's control. For example, just as someone with eyes afflicted by jaundice sees the appearance of gold in a conch shell even though it is not there, similarly, due to the influence of the habit of delusion, even though it is not there, one naturally assumes that the appearance of yellow, etc., is real. Here too, this depends on the habit of delusion. How should one think about it? If it is related by the characteristic that arises from it, then it itself is dependently arisen, and therefore becomes subject to others' control. If the nature of the fruit of habit is related to the characteristic of its nature to delusion, then, like delusion, it becomes difficult to avoid becoming subject to others' control. This is like, for example, something far away appearing small, and something small appearing large. This has also answered those who, clinging to external objects, have become involuntarily minded, saying that even without form, it appears. Therefore, since things and other things have not been established as objects of cognition, and the habit of delusion and the appearance of blue, etc., have not been established as related, some say: Consciousness is only awareness; because it is disturbed by bad habits, only the appearance of blue, etc., arises. That is the cognition of blue, etc., not the nature of blue, etc. Its entry is ignorant, it is the mind of external blue, etc. These statements have also been answered. Therefore, since the appearance of blue, etc., has not been established as related to delusion and its habits, even when it disappears and is very pure, it is not reasonable for all appearances to disappear, because if there is no relationship, it is not certain that if one disappears, the other will also disappear, just like cows and horses, etc. For example: Whatever things are analyzed, there is no oneness in them. For things that do not have oneness, there is also no multiplicity. Those who follow the views of others and self acknowledge that permanent, impermanent, pervasive, other, atom, coarse, knowable, knower, etc., are different things, in any single

If one examines in that way, at the time of examination, even the slightest burden of examination cannot be endured. Whatever should not be of one nature, if it is admitted to be of multiple natures, that is unreasonable. Because multiplicity is the characteristic of accumulating oneness. If oneness does not exist, then multiplicity does not exist, just as without trees, there are no forests, etc. Therefore, whatever things are examined, there is no oneness in those things. In whatever there is no oneness, there is also no multiplicity. Thus it is said. In that very sutra it is also said: If examined by wisdom, the essence cannot be grasped. Therefore, it is said that they are inexpressible, and that the essence is also non-existent. If examined by wisdom, there is no independence and no examination. If established things exist or do not exist, how can wisdom examine them? There is no self-nature and no consciousness. There is no thing and no alaya. Those logicians, the evil ones, who make the same taste, examine these. From characteristics, things, consciousness, and whatever movement of the mind, the sons of Da transcend completely, and they act without discrimination. Thus it is said. Therefore, those with white intelligence repeatedly say in that sense: Whatever way things are definitely examined, in reality that thing does not exist. Like this, they are neither one nor of multiple natures. In the various meanings of things, if oneness is unreasonable, then how can the appearance of various wisdoms become one? However one thinks about things, they separate in that way. Therefore, because characteristics are empty, it is well explained that there is no self-nature. What the wise have said in that way should be clear. Thus it is said. Thus, if examined by wisdom that possesses reason and scripture, all things are observed like a hundred gardens, and thus the proof that is free from the nature of one and many is established. Even if the proof is established, is it not that an example possessing both qualities has not been established? If you ask why, it is because the rays of the eye strike the surface of the mirror and reflect back, so one can see one's own face and so on. Or, because a very clear other image appears in the mirror and so on. Or, because the power of things is inconceivable.
