It is clearly false. Thus, if reality and unreality are examined, only selflessness remains. To clarify this, for example, if a child born in a dream dies, because that child does not exist, the dream's conceptualization will prevent the thought that the child exists. Although it prevents the thought of existence, it is false because that child was not born in the dream, nor did it cease. Alternatively, this example can be applied to the case where the child is real but dies in a dream. Similarly, all phenomena are arising and ceasing. Although this is not a valid cognition, there is no fault in selflessness. Thus, by eliminating causelessness and unequal causes, and summarizing closely, because results do not arise from inherent nature. Therefore, through the analysis of what immediately follows, nothing exists without a cause. It should be understood that things made by persons and time, etc., also do not exist. Thus, it is established that causelessness does not exist. If things do not arise from inherent nature, Ishvara, or a primary substance, etc., but truly arise from the cause of desire, how can it be selfless? Here, it is said that the three extremes of 'not from self, not from other, not from both' are to be established. Separate and so forth. It is not the case that it arises from either self or other, individually. It is also not the case that it arises from the combination of both. It does not exist in the manner of arising from conditions. First of all, things do not arise from themselves, because before arising, the thing does not exist, so from what does it arise? Even if it arises, since it is already complete, what does it produce? Furthermore, if it arises only from itself, then what has already arisen will arise again, which is impossible because it is an illogical repetition. Or, for a seed, only a seed will arise, and a sprout will never arise. The seed and the sprout are also not the same entity. If it produces its own entity, then nothing will arise, because they are mutually dependent. If it has inherent nature, it will arise; after arising, it has inherent nature. It does not arise from other, because it would follow that a bean sprout arises from a rice seed. Since there is no difference in otherness, it would follow that everything arises from everything. If it is said that the capacity of the producer and the produced is definite, so there is no fault, that is not correct. Because when the fruit has not arisen, whose capacity is it? After the fruit has arisen, since there is no cause, whose capacity is it? Because the times are not simultaneous, the definiteness of the producer and the produced also does not exist. Continuous
