Just as land and seeds, etc., follow the occurrence and non-occurrence of things different from actions, this is merely an appearance. This is explained: If something exists, then something arises; if something does not exist, then that thing is its cause. For all things that are speculated upon, the causes will be endless. So it is said. If the elements such as earth are the Lord, then so be it. Since we see that they follow, what is the use of laboring over mere names? Because there is no difference in meaning. Numerous, with various natures, impermanent, with the nature of destruction, immovable, therefore not mind, so separated from action, not a deity to be offered to, therefore what is to be meditated upon is impurity, in what is said there is also earth, etc., therefore the word "etc." includes water, fire, and wind. These are not the Lord, because they do not possess the characteristics of the Lord. The Lord is permanent and unique. If it is not earth, etc., then is it space? The answer is: The Lord is not space, because it is immovable. Because it has no nature, it is separated from action. Then is it "self"? No, because it has already been refuted. If the Lord is ordinary and not an object of thought, then the action itself that transcends the path of objects of thought is also not an object of thought. Therefore, it is unreasonable to say it, what is the use of saying it? If the description of it is prevented, but its action is known by all beings, therefore is it an object of thought? The answer is: What do you want it to produce? If it is "self," then it is permanent, how does it produce? The word "etc." includes earth, water, fire, wind, space, time, direction, mind, etc. These are also permanent, therefore it does not produce. The nature called the Lord also does not produce, because it is permanent. Consciousness also does not produce from it, because consciousness arises from the object of consciousness, and since beginningless samsara, consciousness arises dependent on the object of consciousness, therefore it does not arise from it. Happiness and suffering do not arise from this, but from virtue and non-virtue. For virtue and non-virtue, it also has no function. Now, what has the Great Lord done? This is an explanation of common faults: Is the cause of beings permanent or impermanent? If it is permanent, then the cause has no beginning, so how can the result arise? Let it produce! Because it is constantly present and has no beginning, therefore it cannot be established that it is made by the Lord. The cause that is constantly capable and abiding

Then the fruit should also always arise. If all fruits do not always arise, they also exist at the end of the kalpa. In this way, abiding and gathering should also be spoken of. If it is said that it does not arise because there is no condition, it is not so, because it does not depend on others. Because it has the ability, and the constant thing cannot be changed by conditions. If a non-different entity arises from that difference, then it should also arise. If it is a different entity, then the fruit arises only from the difference, so it will not be the cause. If it is its difference, then what is its relationship with it? If it is said that it is through three relationships, then if you think about what relationship it has with those, then it will become endless. Even if it depends on conditions, at that time the collection is also done by it, so it is impossible for it not to exist, because it is impossible for something that was not done by Ishvara to not exist. Therefore, what does the constant maker depend on? If it is said that from the three, namely the immediate cause, the co-acting condition, and the dominant condition, Ishvara is the dominant condition, so it is not contradictory to depend on conditions. Answer: If it depends on the collection, then Ishvara will not become the cause. At that time, because the fruit arises from the collection of ropes and so on. Because it does not arise from that. Also, having a collection cannot but produce, and without a collection, it cannot do. Also, even if there is a collection and it does, does it produce it willingly or unwillingly? To this, if Ishvara does it unwillingly, then it will become subject to others. If it is said that it produces it willingly, then it will become subject to desire. In this way, producing depending on others will not become Ishvara. Therefore, it is established that the various beings are not the actions of Ishvara. In this way, if it is said that the atom is the constant nature, and through the second atom and so on, it is the earth and mountains and so on. Answer: Those actions and so on, which say that the extremely subtle atom is the cause of various beings, are constant. This has already been refuted by "because it can be divided into partial atoms" and so on. Therefore, the constant nature of the atom is also not a being. Now I will explain how to refute the way of complete transformation of nature. The Samkhya school believes that the cause of manifestation and movement is the Pradhana. What is that? It is the three Gunas (Tibetan: ཡོན་ཏན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुण, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: guṇa, Chinese literal meaning: गुण) of Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas.
