It is extensively explained in the Samadhiraja Sutra. It is said that those who suffer from the suffering of others are not harmed by much suffering. Thus, when self and other are equal, and one's own mindstream is accustomed to it, one's own happiness is equal to the suffering of others, and becomes only suffering. The happiness of pacifying the suffering of others, even in the hells, is like a lotus sea, and one enters into contemplation considering suffering as only happiness in order to subdue the sentient beings of hell. What suffering could be more painful than that? It is said that by the happiness of others, even those uncommon happinesses will arise. When sentient beings are liberated from hell and so on, the ocean of joy that arises for whom is enough. Other happinesses are placed below it. Then, is there a greater happiness than liberation? Answer: What is the use of the liberation of the Hearers and so on, who do not rejoice in the benefit of sentient beings? Because they wish to arise as Buddhas along the way. Because there is no attachment to liberation, therefore, in doing the benefit of others, there is no arrogance, and because it is difficult to do, there is no wonder, because there is no expectation for the result of the done deed, because there is complete attachment to the benefit of others. Briefly summarized and explained, therefore, since there is no difference between self and other, just as one protects oneself from harm and sorrow and so on, so also one should protect and have compassion for others. Even if one does not have the ability to protect by grasping the mind, it is for the sake of generating bodhicitta. After meditating on the equality of self and other, exchanging self and other is even more difficult than that, and it is explained by way of example. When entering the mother's womb from the bardo, the sperm and blood of the father and mother gradually become a slimy and soft body, and then one grasps it as oneself, so even though its object is without self, self-grasping arises. Similarly, why not meditate by making the body of others as oneself? With whatever thought, One connects the minds of people, It becomes the nature of that, Like various jewels. Thus it is said. One's own body is established as belonging to others, because it is born of parents, so one should meditate on exchanging self and other. This explains the necessity of abandoning faults and taking up qualities. Then, there is no ultimate benefit for others

If I am alone, how should I contemplate this as myself? Answer: Regarding the parts of the body, be certain that they are a whole. For example, although hands and so on are many, you still consider them a whole. Similarly, you should especially believe that all beings are my self, why not consider beings as its parts? "Then, distinguishing by hands and so on..." etc. has already been explained, why repeat it again? This is true, before it was an example of self and other being equal, but here it is the exchange of self and other, relying on other meanings, so there is no fault. The two explain the difference: Even though this body has no self, but due to habit, the thought of "I" arises, then why can't the thought of "I" also arise for others through habit? Even if it is possible, then what? Answer: By clinging to the self in this way, even if you do things for others, the arrogance of "I helped this person" will not arise. Because there are many, you will not be surprised either, illustrating with an example: Just like letting yourself eat food, without expecting the fruit in the next life, the exchange of self and other is also like that, because the fruit is also given up. In this way, the fault of not being able to do it is eliminated, explaining that the mind is put into wrong habits: Through words such as harm, sorrow, etc., just like protecting oneself from suffering, one should also protect beings and cultivate compassion. Illustrating with an example, therefore, the holy Avalokiteśvara's own name Avalokiteśvara, is blessed, even if someone is fearful, reciting my name can eliminate his suffering, and ultimately eliminate the fear of not having confidence in the group. The idea is: I am not me, but whoever remembers the holy Avalokiteśvara, that person is me. I should protect him. He said: Whoever remembers me in decline, I will dispel his decline. May my initial wish also enable me to obtain the fruit. Thus. Furthermore, things that seem difficult to do are also because of not being accustomed to them. Because if you gain ability through habit, then nothing is impossible to do. Because hearing about giving away hands and so on, one would be afraid at first, but once accustomed to it, now one would be unhappy without it. Therefore, there is no need to say much, anyone who wants to quickly save themselves and others
