Subduing the earth is good, the mind is the cause of subtlety and depth. Thus it is said. The one who speaks truthfully is the all-knowing, compassionate one, one should trust the one who wants to benefit oneself. Otherwise, who made the objects of desire, women, in places like the forest of sword leaves and all the weapons, as well as the ground of burning iron, and the trees of the Shalmali forest? These are said to be made by the mind, the Able One said that all these arise from the sinful mind. Therefore, the mind should be guarded. Why is it said from the cloud of jewels? All dharmas are preceded by the mind, if the mind is understood, then those can also be understood, and so on, there are many. The collection of virtues is also said to be only the mind, poverty is the lack of wealth, eliminating it from beings. If the perfection of generosity is complete, then how would that arise in the previous victors? Because beings are still poor now. So how does it arise? It is said: Through the difference of familiarizing oneself with giving away all external and internal things, as well as the fruits of giving, and giving to all sentient beings, being free from stinginess and so on, and when the mind is without attachment, the perfection of generosity is complete, so that is also the mind. So how does it arise? It is said: All external and internal things and fish and so on. There is no object of killing and so on, because there is no thing, so there is no killing and so on. If you want discipline, then where do you drive the fish and so on, as well as the property of others, women and alcohol and so on? Where will those become invisible? Because they are invisible, I will not kill them. It is not like that, therefore those exist, but if you obtain a mind that is the opposite of that, it is considered the perfection of discipline, therefore that is only the mind. Patience or saying is also said to be the mind, that is, sentient beings and so on. If all enemies are destroyed, because there is no hatred, so there is no one who harms, if it is patience, then it will only become powerless, because there is no action like the sky for the cruel person. Therefore, only the mind that is reversed from anger and so on is the patience of enduring the harm of others. What the enemy does is to increase hatred.

If it is not there, then at that time, they are as if destroyed and do not exist. Although this is an impossible thing, if explained with a metaphor, if one is skilled in methods, it can be said to be possible, such as saying "earth" etc. In order to protect against the harm of thorns etc., one should purify the earth, but that is impossible because there is not that much leather. It is possible through method, just a piece of leather the size of a shoe sole can cover the entire earth. Similarly, it is impossible to repel external enemies etc., therefore, one should only repel one's own mind, because repelling others is impossible and unnecessary. The nature of delighting in virtue, diligence is also said to be the mind, such as saying "clear mind" etc. For a mind that is inferior in acting in the direction of virtue, even together with body and speech, such a result will not arise. Just as the mind alone can become clear in meditation etc., thereby producing results such as Brahma. Therefore, that is also the mind itself. Meditation is characterized by the mind being one-pointed, and is said to be the mind itself, such as saying "recitation" etc. Recitation is the repetition of mantras and vidyas etc. Austerity is the restraint of the senses. Even if one is accustomed to these for a long time, due to the mind being distracted or obscured by sleep etc., it becomes meaningless because what is to be accomplished cannot be accomplished. Thus, the All-Knowing Bhagavan said. Wisdom is said to be the inexpressible mind, such as saying "suffering" etc. In order to destroy the suffering of the six realms, and in order to experience the bliss beyond suffering, one revolves meaninglessly, like a Kasha flower spinning in the sky. Serving the five fires and plucking hair etc. are meaningless, because the supreme meaning of those dharmas, the supreme treasure of worldly and transworldly dharmas is the mind, which is secret, not the object of ordinary activity, merely thinking about that reality, one is not accustomed to the nature of the Dharmakaya. It is said in the Gandavyuha Sutra: "Only one's own mind can be moistened by the clouds of dharma, one should purify from all obscurations, one should rely on diligence." etc. Because sentient beings are the nature of the mind, therefore, what grasps it more firmly is mindfulness. What guards it well is awareness.
