Just as poison increases when drunk. Like this, the cause of continuously and uninterruptedly generating suffering, the long-standing enemies reside in my mind without fear or reversal, if I still have a mind, I should not rejoice in samsara. Again, it is said that what should be reproached: existence itself is a prison, and its jailer does not grant liberation. Even in hell and so on, there are those who are killed and those who kill, the messengers of Yama, if these exist in the house of my mind, in any formed net of self-nature, then serving powerful enemies, how can I have happiness? Because that is the reason, so as long as those enemies have not been completely killed, I will not give up diligence. Because even for the enemy of a small fault, there will be steadfast anger and increasing arrogance, and one will not sleep without destroying those enemies. Furthermore, one will die on one's own, sentient beings who are subject to the law of death, for being forcibly killed on the battlefield, what was the previous harm like? Enduring the pain of being struck by weapons on the battlefield, one will not retreat before the task to be accomplished is completed. A special explanation is given in what has been said: always creating all suffering, diligently killing enemies without fault, I cannot be lazy, even if hundreds and thousands of sufferings arise, what is the reason? It is only because one should not be lazy. It is said for the purpose of practicing the truth of the path: because there is no need for future lives and so on, but like ornaments, one accepts with joy the weapons that strike the enemy's heart and so on, then what harm is there to me, who shares the responsibility for making all beings Buddhas? For such suffering, one should only have joy. It will also be said below: destroying the suffering of beings, one should rejoice in suffering itself. This is what is said: fishermen only for the sake of survival, in order to kill fish, enter the cold water in cold weather. Outcasts, in order to steal the wealth of others, walk on thorny roads at night, enduring rain, wind, and poisonous snakes, etc.

The doubt of killing without regard to the fear of death also increases extremely, and the farmers also suffer from the pain of heat and cold, etc. The word "etc." includes hunters, those who seek illicit sexual relations, merchants, slaves, and others who engage in lowly activities. If enduring suffering can accomplish the deeds of a great man, why can't I endure it? Furthermore, having vowed to liberate all beings pervading the ten directions of space from afflictions, when will I be able to disregard others and even liberate myself from craving and so on? At that time, without considering the power of past lives, someone who says that beings should attain Buddhahood will become a madman. Therefore, one must steadfastly vow to destroy afflictions. One must be firm: Before one is liberated oneself, how can one liberate others? With such reasoning, one must first begin by destroying one's own afflictions. Therefore, one must despise all suffering, and with steadfast diligence in destroying afflictions, regard adversity as an enemy and constantly wage war against it. So, if one wants to destroy afflictions in every way, then at that time, the attachment to destruction must also be destroyed, otherwise one will not be free from afflictions, is that so? The answer is that there are various ways, that is, any affliction that becomes the cause of destroying afflictions, such as attachment to sentient beings, etc., that is the cause of accumulating merit, so it should be placed under one's own control. If it is said that this is difficult to do, the answer is that even if the intestines are cut into pieces, the head is cut off, and the flesh and blood are exhausted, one will not be dominated by the enemies of affliction. If the enemies who have been driven out of one's own territory rely on other powerful forces and return again, what should be done? The answer is that when other enemies are driven out, they will live in other places, where they gain power and then return to destroy the enemy. But the way of the enemies of affliction is not like that, so it is impossible to return again. It is said for the sake of destroying latent afflictions, when they are driven out of my mind, where will they go to be destroyed? Where will they dwell and initiate diligence in order to destroy me? Because there is no dwelling place, the afflictions that are uprooted from the root cannot rise again. However, those who are not intelligent think that I have no diligence, these afflictions are not
