Thus it is said. It is said that one should not transgress the words of the Buddha. Even fearing a common impending illness, one should not transgress the words of a doctor, for fear of the illness worsening. Afflicted by four and four hundred diseases, what need is there to mention not transgressing? There are a hundred kinds of untimely death, and with one timely death, there are one hundred and one kinds. That is, wind, bile, phlegm, and those arising from their combination, are four hundred kinds. Even so, what is it? It is said that even the disturbance of a single disease can cause the death of all beings dwelling in Jambudvipa, and the supreme medicine to cure that disease cannot be found anywhere. Here, the example is the birth story of King Padmashri. In the past, the Blessed One was born as King Kashi named Padma. At that time, all the people of Jambudvipa were dying from diseases, and they all prayed to the Bodhisattva: Alas! Great King, you benefit all beings, yet my situation has become like this. The king immediately commanded the doctors to examine all the treatises on healing, and they found nothing other than the flesh of a Rohita fish born on that day, and reported it to the king. That fish, having left (its mother) on that day, crossing a great river, is difficult to find a path that has not been found. Similarly, even a single disease such as limitless desire destroys all beings, and the medicine for it cannot be found by anyone other than the all-knowing physician. Therefore, some are able to eliminate the pain of body and mind, yet they transgress the words of the all-knowing physician. Knowing that I am extremely foolish and worthy of condemnation, yet I still transgress the teachings, who is more foolish than me? This is self-reproach. Therefore, one should be mindful, as it is said. Even in a small walled place like a mountain, where only a fracture or death occurs, one should act mindfully. What need is there to mention being mindful for those who have the lifespan of an intermediate kalpa in a long walled place like Naraka (Sanskrit: Naraka, Hell) which is thousands of yojanas (an ancient Indian unit of distance, one yojana is about 7-9 miles) in size? Is it enough to endure suffering there and enjoy long-lasting happiness here? It is said that one should not expect happiness simply because that mountain does not die, because I
