In order to dispel the clinging to reality, which is the cause of all decline, one might think that the true nature is being obstructed. Now, in order to show that one should practice the yoga of emptiness, which takes the two truths as its object, questions such as "like an illusion" are posed. Others might think: Knowing emptiness is not the cause of eliminating obscurations, so it should not be practiced by those with conceptualizations, like illusionists, etc. If one thinks like this, then it is said, "the one who does that," etc. There are two causes for the arising of clinging: internally, not abandoning improper attention, and externally, the object that should always be done. Illusionists possess both of these, so it is reasonable that clinging arises when one has not examined it for a while. But when a great yogi has become accustomed to emptiness for three countless eons, having abandoned the habitual clinging to reality, he sees all phenomena like a myrobalan fruit placed in the palm of his hand, but he does not have clinging, so afflictions do not arise. Therefore, it is the cause of eliminating obscurations, so one should practice the yoga of emptiness. That is the meaning. If asked, "Then how should one practice the yoga of emptiness?" it is said, "When," etc. For a while, when practicing being separated from one and many, etc., when one examines which of the objects such as form is empty, at that time, when one does not find even a little of the object to be refuted, then clinging to appearing as real will not arise. Thus, knowing that what should be refuted is not established, then when the refutation is also not established, one will also not cling to "non-existence," so one will also abandon the conceptualization of clinging to non-existence. Thus, when both reality and non-reality do not abide before the mind of the yogi, and when they do not appear in the aspect of the apprehended, then because there is no third aspect, through the door of having no object of focus, all conceptualizations will be completely pacified. That is the meaning. But if one does not have conceptualizations in this way, then for the beings to be tamed, with the form body of the Buddha
