Just like that. Here, since consciousness is also of the nature of awareness, there is no part of ignorance. Because of that very reason, there is no need for self to be aware of self, so it is not self-aware. Therefore, since it is of the nature of awareness, your argument that "consciousness is self-aware" has the fault of contradiction, that is its meaning. To state the meaning of the branch, the so-called "to make clear" means that it is not self-illuminating, because there is no need to make it clear. Why is that? Because, like this, there is no obscurity of nature obscured by darkness, which is to say that it is the nature of clarity. Blue is a similar example, like lapis lazuli. The so-called like crystal is a dissimilar example of that blue, just as crystal itself is not blue by nature. The cause of making it blue depends on lapis lazuli and so on, but lapis lazuli blue itself does not depend on the cause of blue. Why? Because it has been in blue from the beginning. Such lapis lazuli is blue, self makes itself blue, because there is no need to make it blue, so it is like not making itself blue, that is its meaning. Also, in order to prove that consciousness is the nature of self-awareness. "Other conditions" and so on are mentioned. Thus, since it is the nature of self-awareness, although it has been determined that saying "self-aware" is unreasonable, if it is said that by the power of other conditions such as object form and the eye sense, that consciousness is self-aware, according to your view, all dharmas are included in mind-only, because other conditions other than mind have not been established, so by the power of other conditions, that consciousness being self-aware is also unreasonable, in order to show this, "form" and so on are mentioned. Thus, through the means of the damaging measure, it has been proven that the existence of consciousness in the ultimate sense is unreasonable. Now, in order to show that there is no valid measure to establish the existence of consciousness in the ultimate sense, "lamp" and so on are mentioned, the lamp is what makes it clear,

English

Because it is experienced by the direct perception of the root consciousness. If it should be admitted, then knowledge itself can illuminate itself, because no direct perception प्रमाण can be established, so those with conceptual minds should not admit it, that is what they think. Why? Because what is admitted by those with conceptual minds is necessarily pervaded by the प्रमाण that can establish it, that is its meaning. However, how can direct perception not be established? For the time being, the direct perception of consciousness and root consciousness cannot be established, because the objects of these two are the five sense organs of the form aggregate, such as form and sound; the direct perception of self-awareness cannot be established either, because this is precisely the time when one can endure reflection; the direct perception of yoga cannot be established either, because for those who can see the other shore, the name of direct perception of yoga is not applied. Therefore, whether one's own self can illuminate itself or not, because the प्रमाण of direct perception cannot be established, so the proposition cannot be established either, that is its conclusion. If direct perception cannot be established, but relying on the sign of the result, it can be established by inference, that is what they think. If self-awareness etc. is said, if the self-awareness that experiences happiness etc. does not exist, then the cause of later arising memory, it can be established by inference that there is a self-awareness, that is what they think. Having said meaning, recollection etc., it is not necessary to establish a true self-awareness knowledge through the arising of memory knowledge, because as said above, that true self-awareness cannot be established, that is what they think. However, if that true self-awareness does not exist, then the later arising of memory knowledge is unreasonable, if asked. Even if there is no true one, but because self-awareness exists conventionally, so memory knowledge arises, therefore it is said to remember it. However, even if it exists conventionally, it is unreasonable, because it is admitted that there is no self-nature, if asked. Like this, having said etc., because here the conventional of seeing and hearing etc. is not prevented, then what is prevented here? Having said here etc., this is suffering
