Making offerings at the right time will produce results, as stated in the scriptures. Some differences are merely conventional truths, while others are merely ultimate truths. As it is said: Some make offerings to those who dwell, and some make offerings to those who have passed into nirvana. The initial intention is the same, and there is no difference in merit. Thus it is said. Furthermore, making offerings to the Bhagavan who dwells in truth, that is, in ultimate truth, is like producing results. For example, what is it like? It means that there is nothing else suitable as a metaphor except the body. The Vaibhashikas argue, saying, "The true," and so on. Seeing suffering, origin, cessation, and path, that is, the noble truths, from direct realization, it is sufficient to be liberated through the path of seeing and the path of cultivation. Someone wonders, what is the use of meditating on emptiness? The answer is: Because without the path of emptiness-nature, there is no enlightenment. This is stated in the scriptures. That is, it is said thus: The path of liberation that the Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas have definitively indicated is only you, and it is certain that there is no other. Thus it appears. However, this is what the opponent says: The Mahayana is the vehicle of the Bodhisattvas. Someone thinks, that is not proven by scripture. The answer is: How is your scripture proven? The opponent says: Because the two of us, if my scripture can prove it. The proponent says: First, it is said thus, first, temporarily, the scripture that you did not previously acknowledge cannot itself prove it. Later, it can be proven by acknowledging it. If that is the case, our Mahayana can also be proven after acknowledging it, so who of us two will say this proof? If it is said that the oral instructions transmitted from one master to another, and the words of the Buddha, which appear in the sutras and vinaya, are the words of the Buddha, and the others are not. The answer is: It is said, "Whatever." Whatever conditions, that is, whatever is related to reasons. The "that" in it refers to one's own scripture. "Abiding" means acknowledging.

Therefore, these also exist in the teachings of the Mahayana, so please combine these causes and conditions. It is said: Whatever words are meaningful and correspond to the Dharma, are said to cut off all the afflictions of the three realms. Whatever makes one see the benefit of peace, if such a treatise is not like that, it is said to be inverted. If it is thought that what is accepted by others besides us two is the true meaning, then it is said "others," if it is thought that what is accepted by others besides us two is true, then the Vedas, etc., would also become true. If it is thought that because there is a dispute about whether the teachings themselves are correct or not, the Mahayana is disputatious, then the proponent says: If that is the case, then your teachings should also be abandoned, because for it, you and the heretics also have correct understanding and wrong understanding. Not only heretics, but I, that is, the differences of one's own sect and the sects of others, that is, the differences of other sects, because besides the teachings you acknowledge, what is acknowledged by one's own and other sects, that is also disputatious, so it should be abandoned, because it is an unstable acknowledgment. The word "other teachings" means one's own teachings and the teachings of others. By the way, in a roundabout way, in order to eliminate the misunderstanding of the teachings, and to obtain liberation through the realization of the truth, therefore, in order to eliminate the doubt of "what is the use of practicing emptiness," it is said "the root of the teaching," the teaching is the Sutra Pitaka. The commitment to liberation from afflictions and peace is the root of the two monks, because they can abide for a long time. Among them, the most important is the monk who is liberated from afflictions, if there is no emptiness, only through the realization of the truth, the monk who is liberated from afflictions will not arise, so it is difficult to abide. Not only is it difficult for the monk to abide, but also the Nirvana of those whose minds are focused, that is, those who are attached to the appearance of things, is also difficult to abide. Therefore, in order to explain that the monk himself is unreasonable, the debate "afflictions" is put forward, and afflictions are abandoned through the realization of the truth.
