Becoming oneself is not independent of others, because it depends on one's own cause. If it were truly independent of dependence, then something non-blue would arise from one's own continuum, and later, without relying on conditions, one would make oneself blue. If it doesn't transform like that, then by what means is it said that transforming into blue is independent? Or, the treatises on blue, etc., are not saying that the lamp is not an illuminator, which is reasonable in itself. Like this, even if it is independent, it will not illuminate itself, which is the meaning of summarizing. Even if it is allowed that the lamp illuminates itself, it is not existent for the mind, to show this, the lamp, etc., are mentioned. The so-called "consciousness" refers to the consciousness of the lamp. The mind, that is, by what other consciousness is it understood, and then it is said that this is self-illuminating? Because the past and future do not exist, and for what arises now, because it is simultaneous, holding itself is unreasonable. It has also been said: "The mind of the future, all consciousness cannot see." Therefore, the so-called "brightness like a lamp, non-brightness like a vase," is play, is the Dharma of enjoyment. Even if it is said, it is meaningless. The mind that is unborn and unceasing is no different from the daughter of a barren woman, which is the meaning. To refute, it is said "if," if consciousness is not the nature of self-awareness, then there will be no recollection later, because the cause of recollection is experience. Therefore, it is thought that because there is recollection, experience is established. The answer is, if self-awareness necessarily exists, then at that time its result—recollection—must also exist, then when the dispute begins, recollection is its result, how is that possible? Moreover, recollection itself is consciousness, how can it be established? Then, how does recollection arise? The answer is "other experience," that is, from the experience of the object to be grasped other than consciousness, it

and the knowledge related to what follows will arise, meaning that it is precisely the special memory of experiencing objects that will become recollection. If you wonder what it is like, it is said to be like rat poison. If the body is contaminated with rat poison soaked in *ldong ros*, then at other times when the sound of a dragon is proclaimed, even without self-awareness, the poison will be triggered and increased by that mere condition. If the opponent wants to prove self-awareness through other means, it is said, "other condition," the other condition is meditation. What is associated with that is the mind. To make it clear, because it makes other knowledge appear separately. Self-illumination itself also certainly exists, because it apprehends other knowledge as it is. Similarly, it also apprehends its own mind, therefore, if it is thought that awareness has been established, the answer is, "medicine." If that is the case, then it is sufficient to be established merely by practicing eye medicine, that is, the place of combination is the vase that sees the place, it is a good vase, and whatever good vase is, that itself becomes eye medicine. Therefore, one should not say that by the power of conditions one sees the minds of others, and also sees one's own mind. If self-awareness is not true, then how will the terms such as "seeing the vase" exist? If it is thought that the illuminator itself becomes non-illuminating, it is said, "how." Seeing is directly perceived, hearing is produced from sound, and knowing is subsequent inference. Conventional seeing and so on are not to be negated, so how it exists depends on what. In ultimate truth, fabrication is the very cause of suffering, and it should be reversed, which is the meaning of subsequent cutting off. In order to complete the things that arise incidentally and to combine the things that are to be done at the moment, it is said, "from the mind." For example, is illusion other than the mind? It is not, because it has been promised that something is more important than consciousness. If it is not other, is it? If it is said yes, it is not, because consciousness itself will become illusion. If it is thought to be that itself, then say from that, if it is a thing, then to it
