Even if one attains [bodhi], there will still be aging and so on. If that's the case, what's the point of prostrating and other bodhi practices? Because there's no result. Even though this has already been answered with "as long as the causes and conditions gather," etc., in order to make it clearer, it is said, "causes and conditions." Even if the causes and conditions exist, the illusion also exists. Likewise, the illusion of sentient beings is also like that. If the causes and conditions don't exist, then the illusion won't exist either. Likewise, the illusion of the Buddha also won't appear until the causes and conditions exist, because the merit of sentient beings causes the Victorious One to appear. If that doesn't exist, then it won't appear even conventionally. Having refuted the arguments of the Sutra school and others for a while, now, in order to refute the arguments of the Yogacara, wanting to raise that argument, it is said, "When." "Confusion" refers to what appears in the mind. When all sentient beings are of the nature of illusion and have become emptiness of self-nature, at that time, the mind that grasps the nature of illusion also doesn't exist. In that case, what does the illusion take as its object? Therefore, one's own mind is confused as external form. If one thinks that there's no fault in that, in order to refute that, it is said, "When." When, for you who only speak of consciousness-only, the illusion itself, that is, the form of the aspect of the elephant and so on that is to be grasped, doesn't exist, then one must acknowledge only the mind, because there's no external object. In that case, what is taken as the object at that time? Here, one must also clearly state what appears separately. In order to summarize the necessity of the Yogacara's thought, it is said, "That is the mind." One's own mind is confused as external form, appearing as the aspect of the elephant and so on. Therefore, if that is the ultimate truth, then there must be another mind, because it appears as an aspect that is cut off from the grasping. "If" means not acknowledging. Even so, that is not appropriate, in order to show this answer, it is said, "When." When knowledge itself is acknowledged as illusion, then what else grasps? Seeing like this,

If illusion is consciousness, how can there be something to be seen without a seer? And how can there be a seer without something to be seen? Therefore, beings will become blind. If someone thinks that the nature of consciousness is illusion, and one sees oneself, then for the time being, those faults will not occur. Here, the term "world" refers to taking the nature of the mind as the agent as an action, and seeing is not reasonable, because doing to oneself is contradictory. As it is said in the Precious Topknot Sutra: "If one thoroughly examines one's own mind, one cannot truly see it inwardly, nor outwardly, nor on the aggregates, nor on the elements," and so on, it is extensively explained. If someone wonders what this is like, it is said like a sword and so on. Just as the edge of a sword cannot cut itself, so too the mind cannot know itself, because for things without parts, the natures are mutually contradictory. If someone thinks that, for example, a lamp that illuminates a vase and so on can also illuminate itself, and it does not need to rely on another lamp to illuminate it. Similarly, consciousness is not like that, so there is no contradiction. Even if a lamp can illuminate things, it does not illuminate its own essence after being obscured by darkness. In order to refute the arguments of those who only speak of consciousness, here it is said "blue". For example, a crystal stone becomes blue, although it depends on other conditions such as blue cloth, but the nature of blue that has already been established, in order to make it blue, does not need to depend on other conditions. Similarly, slightly illuminating a vase and so on, one can see that it depends on a lamp and so on, but slightly in order to illuminate a lamp and so on, one does not see it depending on other fires and so on, because it illuminates itself. If someone thinks that, similarly, consciousness is also established as the nature of light. In order to answer this question, here it is said "foolishness". This analogy is also not similar. Any blue
