If it is said that this was not spoken by the Buddha, that is incorrect; this was indeed spoken by the Buddha. The one named 'Great Light Protector' shows that it is a fault of not understanding the profound scriptures. Furthermore, even if emptiness is not fully understood, it is possible to be liberated. Without it, one will not attain Buddhahood. Why? Because 'attachment' and so forth are mentioned. If one obtains nirvana where attachment and destruction do not exist in this way, this is the fruit of realizing emptiness. 'Thus' and so forth is a summary. The obscurations of afflictions such as desire, and all that needs to be known and understood, are covered and obscured by ignorance, which is like darkness, so it is darkness. The antidote for abandoning these two is emptiness. Even so, if one does not meditate because of fear of this aspect of 'no-self,' then 'suffering' and so forth are mentioned for that reason. The reason for saying that is to show that there is no basis for fear. Therefore, 'I' and so forth are mentioned. If one thinks that there is nothing, how should one understand it? Therefore, 'teeth' and so forth are mentioned. The so-called 'nine openings' refer to the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, which are seven, and the channels for excrement and urine, making nine in total. The six consciousnesses are eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness. Thus, the view that there is a person apart from the self and life, as held by Badisa'i bu and others, is refuted. The Samkhya school also considers awareness to be the self, but that is also the nature of the male associated with awareness, not their view. When brightness, dust, and darkness are in a state of equilibrium, nature mixes with permanence, from which the great one arises. From the great one arises ego. From ego arise the five subtle elements such as sound. The awareness of sound and so forth also appears to the male in the form of an image. Therefore, if sound and so forth, 'sound' and so forth are mentioned. If the awareness of sound and so forth is the mind, then this male is permanent. If sound is also permanent, then it should be perceived and heard at all times. But because it is not always heard, awareness is not permanent, this shows.

Onto. Here, some say that sound and other things are not permanent, so they cannot be heard at all times. Therefore, it is said, "By what?" etc. If that is the case, then what is said to be known by what cause, and what is named, when there is no object to be known, how can it be said to be known since it has not known anything? That is not possible. Therefore, it is said, "If" etc., which is easy to understand. The perception of sound itself, when sound is not near, knows form because it is near to form, so it is said to exist. If that is the case, then at the time of knowing form, why is sound not heard by what cause? If it is said that it is because sound is not nearby, then the perception of sound exists. If it is said that it is not non-existent because it is its nature, then, therefore, it is certain that the object of knowledge is not nearby, and there is no perception in the distance. Furthermore, it is said, "When" etc. If the perception of sound and the perception of form are one in the form of a person, then why is sound not heard at the time of knowing form? If it is said that it is because there is no sound at the time of grasping form, then in that case, the perception without an object of knowledge must also be non-existent, so perception will not be permanent. Furthermore, how can the perception of the nature of grasping sound grasp form? If the two are one, then analyzing the five senses is also meaningless. Furthermore, the analysis of the person arising from nature is also unreasonable, so it is said, "And" etc. In the state where intelligence, dust, and darkness are equal, analyzing the nature etc. as arising is just conceptual thought. It is not possible even if it is only one. Therefore, it is unreasonable to think that the essence of having the nature of grasping sound is established without seeing it. Therefore, it is said, "Sound grasping" etc. What is the essence of the perception of grasping sound, how can it grasp form? It will not happen in any way. Because one becoming many is contradictory in itself. Even if it is only one, it can be established as many, for example, one person can also be seen as a son.
