It is not true that it is said to exist merely by fabrication. Therefore, it is said such as clear or unclear, etc. By saying "by whom" etc., even the Buddha did not see. It is like what is said, "The mind of Light Protector, all Buddhas have not seen, do not see, will not see," etc. Therefore, like the behavior of a widow's son, no matter how one speaks of clear or unclear, etc., no matter how one says it, it is a meaningless lie. Thus, after refuting self-awareness, the opponent strives to argue, refuting by saying "if" etc. What is experienced very clearly by the consciousness of others is the cause of memory. If that is the case, how can a person remember what is experienced by the mind of another? Others said "from connection" etc., which is a synonym for saying that having the characteristic of cause and effect, it is transmitted from one to another etc. To this, one can add the question, how can the poison of a mouse be remembered? That is, in summer, mice become poisonous, and when those are recognized to exist, after being bitten by a snake, the snake is not seen, and seeing the changes that harm the body, even if there is no poison of the mouse, the memory of being infected by that poison arises, but the poison of the snake is different from that. Similarly, from a wound or other internal part of the body, just as there is no knowledge of the poison of a mouse, like memory, saying that there is no self-awareness, the memory of consciousness arises. Again, someone says this, although itself does not arise, when eye consciousness etc. arise, it has the nature of appearing in relation to other conditions such as form etc. In order to show that that is unreasonable, it is said "other conditions" etc. For example, just as without a prepared eye medicine, one cannot see a vase etc., merely having conditions cannot become knowledge. If that is the case, without self-awareness, it would also follow that one cannot see a vase etc. Therefore, it is said "like this" etc., what is called seeing, here is mani-

It is determined by the three kinds of valid cognition. Hearing arises from sound. Knowing is through subsequent inference. Whatever is seen, etc., is not prohibited here by the Madhyamikas, but elsewhere, being true by valid cognition is not permissible elsewhere. Why is that? Because here, understanding seeing, etc., as true is ignorance, which becomes the cause of suffering, so it is to be averted. If the illusion outside the mind is also not, and not other than that either, how can it be, for example? Because of thinking, it is said to be outside the mind, etc. If the illusion is a thing, then how is it not other than the mind? Like a vase, etc., it is other. If it is said not to be, the illusion outside the mind is not other, then it is not a real thing, it does not exist. If the mind does not exist, how can the illusion be seen? Because of thinking, it is said how, etc. How can the illusion be untrue, and even if it does not exist, like an appearance, even if the nature outside the mind does not exist, but in the conventional, appearing as an object to be viewed and a viewer, what fault is there? Here, the Mind-Only school says that if it relies on things, then it will become samsara because of that, and if it does not rely on it, then samsara itself will become like space. Because of thinking, it is said to rely on things, etc. In the ultimate truth, how can samsara without things have the function of birth? It will not. Samsara

When asked by Mani Pa, he mentioned illusion and so on. Even if one understands illusion as you describe it, how can afflictions such as desire be stopped? When a magical woman is created, even the maker of illusion will generate desire, so even if one understands this, the afflictions will not be stopped. In order to show the order of abandoning afflictions through such a rebuttal, he said, "That maker," and so on. The maker of that illusion is the maker of that. "That" refers to women and so on. From all those who have not abandoned the seeds of arising afflictions, the arising of afflictions at the time of seeing the magical woman is because the practice of emptiness is weak. So how does one abandon afflictions? Therefore, he said, "Emptiness," and so on. Here, emptiness is the wisdom of suchness. Its seed is habit. By practicing it, one will generate a very familiar practice, which will cut off and eliminate the seeds of conceptualization of things, form, and so on. "Slightly non-existent" means that there are no things. If one learns the habit of emptiness, how will it be abandoned? Therefore, he said, "When," and so on. In the ultimate sense, emptiness is not existent. Non-existence does not depend on the cessation of things. If one depends on things, then without things there is no basis. Then "wisdom" means knowing. Because there is no object in front, how can it abide? It cannot abide. In this way, the seeds of the habit of realizing non-existence should also be abandoned in this way. This is the concluding remark. Having thus explained the Nirvana with remainder, in order to show the Nirvana without remainder, he said, "When," and so on. Without an object means without an object or without taking. Wisdom is mind. "Extremely" means Nirvana. In this way, how should one look at the body of the Victorious One through appearance? Therefore, he said, "Wish-fulfilling," and so on. Those to be tamed refer to the conditions for the benefit of beings and the cause of aspirations. As long as these two exist
