Accomplishing everything completely is not samsara, but arises from the force of past aspirations. If it does not arise from abandoning conditions, it will become contradictory, thus it is shown. Here, the Mind-Only school says that if this illusion characterized by things like pots and cloths has no object, then it is unreasonable to mistake it for the illusion itself. It is also impossible to say that the mind abiding in illusion can realize it. Because your Madhyamaka school's illusion is established without mind itself. Therefore, it is said, "When there is no illusion." The answer to this is that "when" and so on are said. Because the illusion that you say is characterized by things like pots and cloths does not exist either. If you admit that it exists, it will be a fault, just like the doctrine that says everything exists. Therefore, how can that illusion be taken as an object? Therefore, according to the Mind-Only view, how can non-existent illusions become objects? Our Madhyamaka view is that illusion characterized by non-existence can also be taken as an object. If the Mind-Only people say that mind itself is the form of illusion, even if that is the case, if illusion or other special meanings truly exist, that is possible. If the unborn mind itself is illusion, then at that time, who will see what as an object? No one will see anything. This also says "the protector of the world" and so on. What did he say? He said that the one who acts with mind does not see a second mind different from that. This is the scripture here. The reasoning is that "the edge of the sword" and so on are said. Whatever is one's own, one does not cut it with it. For example, just as a sword does not cut itself. The mind is also the same, it cannot take itself as an object. Because it is contradictory for oneself to act on oneself. Therefore, how can that mind that does not take an object exist? Just as a sword cannot be cut by another sword, other consciousnesses cannot know other consciousnesses. If there is no self-awareness, it is impossible to know. Here, due to the power of illusion...

In order to clarify the arising of other obstacles, I have said "I" and so on. Even so, the mind can know itself. For example, just as a candle appears to illuminate itself, so too can the mind appear to itself. If someone says this, then, in order to show that this example is not established, I have said "candle" and so on. Vases and the like that are obscured by darkness can be illuminated. The candle itself is not obscured by darkness like a vase, so it is not illuminating, but rather whatever the nature of something is, that becomes the cause of that nature, this statement is illogical and should be avoided. That is to say, if it is not its own nature, but meets with another nature and becomes its nature, that is reasonable. For example, if crystal meets with an incompatible blue substance, it can become blue. Blue itself does not depend on other things to make itself blue. Therefore, other vases and the like appear in dependence on candles and the like, while some other candles and the like do not depend on other appearances to appear, they themselves are appearance, this is reasonable. If blue itself were not blue, then it would make itself blue like crystal, but if it is already blue, then it should not make itself blue. If the candle itself does not illuminate, nor is illuminated by others, then the continuum of all appearances would be cut off. Because that is not allowed, it does not depend on other appearances, therefore it illuminates itself, that is what I have said. Similarly, if the mind is also free from the grasped and the grasper, then it itself illuminates itself. Therefore, I have said "candle" and so on. Because it is known that the candle illuminates, in order to understand this, one can say some answers in a hypothetical way, but for knowledge, there is no other knower, so it illuminates itself, then by what means does knowledge know and speak? Moreover, wisdom cannot see as it is, just as knowing the minds of others, therefore, no one can see as it is, so it cannot be said to be clear or that fire is clear. Wisdom is ultimately inexpressible.
