Therefore, it is the basis of all perfections. Moreover, wisdom is the unsurpassed Bodhi, and it should be cultivated for that purpose, as it is said. The term "said" means that for those who seek the meaning of Bodhi, it is only through this sequence, and not through any other, that certainty should be generated. Therefore, it is repeatedly instructed. Who said it? The Sage said it. It is also like this: having realized the benefits of the mind of Bodhi, through the merit of taking them correctly, one will be endowed with happiness in all lifetimes. The mind that becomes happy will be equally settled. From the samadhi in which one is equally settled, the wisdom of suchness will arise. Moreover, when one encounters the Buddhas and others, one will receive instructions, which are of the nature of hearing. After that comes the nature of thinking. Then, practicing on the ground of faith is of the nature of meditation. After that, one attains the first ground, and when one realizes that the realm of Dharma pervades everywhere, one eliminates all the defilements to be abandoned by seeing. However, one does not manifest the fruit directly. Here, one accomplishes the qualities of the work of loving-kindness and the great aspiration equal to the earth, and abides. Beyond that, others have abandoned all that is to be abandoned by the meditation that obscures the ground, and when one manifests complete enlightenment in the unsurpassed, perfectly complete Bodhi, which is characterized by the complete perfection of all qualities such as strength and fearlessness, the faults of defilements, together with their imprints, are completely exhausted. Although one has attained Nirvana, one does not completely pass into Nirvana due to the force of previous aspirations and great compassion, etc., because one has obtained mastery over all the welfare of sentient beings. For what reason? Without that, others will not enter into the Nirvana of the exhaustion of suffering. Therefore, the truth of the path, which is the nature of the wisdom of suchness, and its cause, hearing, thinking, and meditating, in three ways, should generate wisdom. One should also seek the hearing of forbearance. Then one should dwell in the forest. Equally

One should be diligent in abiding, and one should meditate on the impure and so forth. This refers to the order of practice for beginners in one lifetime. Therefore, generating wisdom, meeting with the holy ones, hearing instructions, and so on, are the causes for that. Why should the cause be generated? Suffering, which is the nature of the five aggregates of grasping, will not change unless its cause is exhausted. If the origin is ceased, then it is nirvana, obtaining nirvana with remainder, without remainder, with abiding, and without abiding. Therefore, for those who desire these, the four truths are taught in this way, so wisdom is also the most important. Again, in brief, whatever is combined with wisdom, all of that is considered to be the two truths, conventional truth and ultimate truth, and here, all of those are included in that. Or, wisdom is what distinguishes the truths, as it is said in the sutras: The Dharma taught by the Buddhas relies on the two truths. Therefore, here, in order to explain the nature of the two truths, "ultimate and" and so on are mentioned. Here, the word "it" is a general term, but it is explained as referring to the nature of things that are extremely hidden and indivisible. And "it itself" is the ultimate truth, it is the only reality, and not just a reality that depends on some condition, that is merely a designation, because it is the object of conception. Furthermore, consciousnesses such as perception with and without images are called conventional truth, because it obscures the attainment of ultimate truth. Whatever ultimately causes the increase or decrease of qualities and faults, and causes the yogi to obtain self-cognizant perception, is also different from moment to moment, and is not the same, that is also the ultimate truth, because it will be said below: Suchness is not momentary. Therefore, it is also the conventional truth that realizes the unsurpassed suchness that transcends the world, it is the unsurpassed path truth that sees that which is unseen itself. The conventional truth that realizes the four truths is also the path.
