“Exhaustion” is its meaning, and it also includes sowing seeds and complete ripening, etc. Moreover, at that time, oneself is seen as suffering itself, and since this is the case, in order to show that its own nature is not suffering, it is said, “Thus, the mind has been cultivated,” etc. Like this, by cultivating the equality of self and others, those who have a continuum that has become accustomed to it will rejoice in pacifying the suffering of others. In order to show why Bodhisattvas do not rejoice in pacifying their own suffering, it is said, “Liberating sentient beings,” etc., because there is no attachment to enjoyment and it is not artificial, the continuum has become accustomed to it, therefore, for those special individuals who are solely attached to benefiting others, there is no expectation of a ripening result. They are the ones who rejoice in pacifying the suffering of others. Because it is so, it is said, “How,” etc., how can one also grasp the body of others as self? It is said, “By habituation,” etc., the so-called “others” refers to the drops of semen and blood from the relationship of parents, gradually increasing due to the father's semen and the mother's blood and the power of karma, mostly in the human body, just like knowing “I,” because of the inverted habituation from beginningless time. Why is it not without habituation? It is said, “Even if the object is gone,” etc., like this, because it is the same as the continuum and because it is false, and because the permanent, single self, etc., are to be negated, even if it becomes non-existent, the perception of the so-called “I” will only become like an illusion. Therefore, even without habituation, there will be no existence like an illusion. However, the word “also” shows that even if things are real, the clear appearance as seen is due to habituation. Those have also been said by others: “Therefore, real and unreal, because of meditating in whatever place, when the power of meditation is complete, that clear, non-conceptual wisdom is the result.” It has been said like this. Similarly, for the body of others, why not grasp it as self?

Cloud. It is so named because of the habituation. Thus, after explaining the meditation of perfectly settling within, equally of self and others, in order to show the diligent meditation of doing things such as exchanging self and others, the body of self is and so on. Other than the mind, in other places also, because of ignorance of one's own body, the mind's ownership is established, and there is no prohibition like that. Isn't it difficult to understand? Because the nature of form and formlessness, understanding and non-understanding, etc., are contradictory, the mind takes ownership from the reversed habituation. After knowing that oneself has faults, also to others, after knowing that the merits are as vast as the ocean, completely abandoning self-grasping, taking others, is to be practiced. How to take others as oneself? Like hands, etc., it is said, and the meaning of the three verses is easy to understand. Protecting oneself is wanting to hide oneself. The one who blesses is that, because of habituation, the protector Avalokiteshvara, benefits sentient beings with compassion. What does he bless? Avalokiteshvara, the name of that self is also, thinking a little about the mind, what need to say anything else, is the meaning of the word "also". Why bless? The fear of retinue, without confidence, the fear arising from that is the fear of retinue. The word "also" is to protect the fear and suffering of other beings, as it is said in the Noble Arrayed Tree Sutra and so on. For what reason? Thus, the mind of guarding sentient beings and, the mind of compassion is to be habituated. If the mind is difficult to practice and accomplish, is it difficult to practice like that? One should not retreat from difficulties, and so on, like this, with the power of habituating friendship, whatever name, sound is heard, or fear also, even if that is not there, it will not be pleasing. Without this happy conduct, there is also no protection of self and others, in order to show this meaning, whatever self and others, etc., is said, it is for the sake of accomplishing the supreme Bodhi.
