Establishing the Buddha's words as such is evident in the Sutra Pitaka and the Vinaya Pitaka. If it is said that "it does not contradict the characteristics," then the Mahayana is not like that. Why? Because in the teachings of the Hearer Vehicle, it is said that accumulation and so on exist. But in the Mahayana, it is prohibited. Therefore, considering that it contradicts the Sutra Pitaka, it is not the Buddha's words. Thinking, "If they contradict each other," he said, "If they contradict each other." However, if merely because of such inconsistencies, it cannot become the Buddha's words, then at that time, it would be necessary to abandon the Vinaya Pitaka and so on, because your Hearer Vehicle's teachings also contradict each other. Therefore, it would necessarily become a fault of not being the Buddha's words and having to be abandoned. However, if it is said that this is said for the purpose of pleasing beings with different inclinations, even if they are inconsistent, it will not contradict the Buddha's words. Then, we are the same, thinking, "It is said to prevent inconsistent beings," do you not accept the Mahayana teachings? This is also said for the purpose of taming beings with different inclinations, therefore, even if the Hearer Vehicle's teachings are inconsistent, it will not contradict the Buddha's words, that is the meaning. This is for the purpose of concluding, so he said, "Therefore," and so on. The meaning of refuting is that it is not the Buddha's words. The meaning of without doubt is the doubt of whether it is the Buddha's words or not. This is to show that beginners should not be afraid of meditating on the yoga of emptiness, so he said, "Suffering arises," and so on. "Emptiness pacifies fear," means if it is the cause of pacifying suffering. Now, because the "self" that will be feared has not been established, in order to show that one should not be afraid of meditating on emptiness, he said, "Self," and so on. If it is said, "The view of self is not established," then, in order to temporarily show that form is not self, he said, "Teeth, hair, nails," and so on. These are not self, because they do not agree with the characteristics of self. Why? Because teeth

Because those aggregates are many impermanent ones, and I am the constant and only one. If those were me, then those should also become constant and unique like me, or I should also become many impermanent ones. Now, in order to show that the aggregate of consciousness is not me, it is said, "In any way, the six consciousnesses are not me," because those are individually grasping at objects such as form, and I am grasping at everything, so those are not me. If those were me, then those should also grasp all objects individually like me, or I should also grasp each object like those and not grasp everything. Now, in order to show that mind is not me, it is said, "If mind is," and so on. Mind is what has just ceased, so it is not present now, and I am constant, so I am present now. If it were me, then mind should also be present now like me. The characteristic of mind would be lost, or like mind, I would also not exist in that way, and my characteristic would be lost. Now, in order to show that the future mind is not me, it is said, "Or the future," and so on. The future mind is not existent in that way because it has not arisen, and I am constant, so I am present now. If it were me, then like the future mind, I should also not exist now, or like me, the future mind should also exist now. Now, in order to show that the present mind is not me, it is said, "If the mind of the pot," and so on. If the mind that is grasped as me at this present time is me, that is not possible, because it is an object-possessor. If it were me, then it should not be the mind grasping at me, because it is the nature of an object, for example, if it is a pot, it should not be the mind grasping at the pot, or if it is the mind grasping at the pot, it should not be the pot. Now, in order to show that the past mind is not me.
