Even if one's own nature is self-illuminating, and the illuminator are not established, but because the cause of illumination, such as the sun, does not depend on others, it is the nature of clarity, so just as one makes oneself clear, for the wisdom of clarity, although the knower and the known are not two, but because it does not depend on other knowers, it is self-awareness in the way of being the nature of knowing, even if the object is as illusory as non-existent, there is no contradiction in the fact that wisdom truly exists, if you say so. The teacher, by way of the example itself not being established, in order to establish that it is not reasonable, said such things as the lamp is not an illuminator. If you admit that the lamp is the nature of clarity, then at that time it is extremely unreasonable for oneself to make oneself clear, why? Because one does not need to make oneself clear. How is it? Because it is the nature of clarity, there is no non-clarity of the nature of being obscured by darkness, therefore one does not need to make oneself clear, just as one is not one's own illuminator. Here, wisdom is also the nature of knowing, so there is no element of ignorance, therefore one does not need to know oneself, so one is not one's own knower. Therefore, because it is the nature of knowing, wisdom knows itself, your reason has the fault of contradiction. This is what is meant to be expressed. The meaning of the limb is to be stated, not the illuminator, is the meaning of oneself not being one's own illuminator. Because there is no need to illuminate. Why is that? Thus, because there is no non-clarity of the nature of being obscured by darkness, it is the nature of clarity. Blue and so on are similar examples, just like lapis lazuli. Like glass, it is a dissimilar example, because glass is not blue by nature, the cause of not being blue depends on lapis lazuli and so on, lapis lazuli itself does not depend on the cause of blue, why? Because it has existed as blue from the beginning, so like that lapis lazuli.

Furthermore, that blue itself can make blue, because it does not need to be made blue, it is like blue in itself, which is the concluding statement. Also, in order to establish that what is known by others is the nature of self-awareness, "other conditions" and so on are mentioned. Thus, although it has become the nature of self-awareness, it is already established that it is unreasonable to say "can make self-awareness." If it is said that the consciousness is made self-aware by the power of other conditions such as the object of form and the sense of the eye, according to your system, all dharmas are included in mind-only, so since other conditions themselves are not established apart from the mind, it is also unreasonable that the consciousness is made self-aware by the power of other conditions, to show this, "form" and so on are mentioned. Thus, after establishing that the very existence of consciousness in the ultimate sense is unreasonable through the means of valid cognition that harms it, now, in order to show that there is no valid cognition that establishes the existence of consciousness in the ultimate sense, "lamp" and so on are mentioned. Because it is experienced by the consciousness of sense-direct perception that a lamp illuminates, if it should be admitted, then consciousness itself illuminates itself, since it is not established by any direct valid cognition, those with conceptual thought should not admit it, thinking in this way, why? The admission of those with conceptual thought is because it is established by the valid cognition that establishes it, that is the meaning. However, how is it not established by direct perception? Briefly, it is not established by mental and sensory direct perception, because the objects of those two are the five sense spheres of form and sound and so on. It is also not established by self-aware direct perception, because that is the time of initial examination. It is also not established by yogic direct perception, because the term yoga is not applied to those who see water reflections and so on. Therefore, whether it illuminates itself or does not illuminate itself, because it is not established by the valid cognition of direct perception, the pledge is also not established, that is the concluding statement. If it is said that although it is not established by direct perception, it is established by inference arising from the sign of the result? If it is said that self-awareness
