In order to show that the power of destroying karma has come to an end, it is said, "Therefore, in the lap," and so on. Having thus shown the destruction of the opposing side, now, from the aspect of the nature of diligence, the perfection of all virtuous dharmas in oneself is accomplished by being under the power of five kinds of diligence. In order to show this, it is said, "Like cotton," and so on. The so-called "being under the power of faith" is merely symbolic. Similarly, it should also be understood as "being under the power of non-retreat," "being under the power of reason," "being under the power of steadfastness," and "being under the power of joy." Now, from the aspect of initiating diligence for whose benefit, thinking: Do the Shravakas and others also initiate diligence in this way? Then, by what does the Bodhisattva's diligence excel? Summarizing in this way, although they also initiate diligence in that way, they initiate diligence for the sake of taming themselves alone, but not for the sake of making themselves and others equal. But the Bodhisattva initiates diligence for the sake of making themselves and others equal. Therefore, from the aspect of need, the Bodhisattva's diligence is superior to that of the Shravakas and other diligent ones. In order to show this, the teacher thought in his mind and said, "Hand," and so on. Here, other commentators say: "Equality between oneself and others" and "exchange between oneself and others," although the teacher explains these here, since they are sustained by intention and wisdom here, they should not be explained here, but should be explained in the next chapter. Those who criticize the teacher's faults seem not to have understood the teacher's intention. If these two meanings are not explained here, then how can one answer the debaters of that time? And by what does the Bodhisattva's diligence excel over the diligence of the Shravakas and others in terms of cause? In this way, it would become not showing its difference. Therefore, the other explanation is very unreasonable.

Those who possess realization should seek the meaning of what the teacher himself has said here. Instead of seeking the teacher's meaning, abandoning the instructions of the teacher, Blo-gros mi-zad, who attained the accomplishment of the noble Manjushri, and following the words of ordinary individuals who speak as they please, is extremely unreasonable and should be abandoned far away. Therefore, I think the teacher's meaning is as described above. Why should one strive to make self and others equal? Because just like oneself, wanting happiness and not wanting suffering, all sentient beings are the same. Therefore, just as one benefits oneself with happiness and saves oneself from suffering, one must do the same for all sentient beings. For example, although this body can be divided into many parts such as hands, benefiting with happiness and protecting from harm are all the same. Therefore, the so-called striving to make self and others equal means striving to bring the benefit of oneself and others to the ultimate perfection. However, isn't it true that the suffering of others does not befall oneself? Why is it unbearable? Think about it clearly. Although that is the case, it is through one's own experience. How so? One's own suffering does not befall others, but because of attachment to one's own body, it is an unbearable experience. Therefore, it is said, "one's own suffering," and so on. If, even so, the experience is the same, but because they do not harm each other, it should not be excluded, if one says so. Because the nature of suffering is the same. Therefore, it is said, "I, with the suffering of others," and so on. Why should one benefit others as one benefits oneself? Because others are also sentient beings. Therefore, it is said, "my from others." In order to show the benefit of others again. When "I and" and so on, two verses are said. Because the wishes are the same, it means that the two must be made equal. Also, it is said, "If to him" and so on. The continuum of others
