Moreover, it causes harm not only through lineage, but also through both direct and indirect means. So, what are the benefits of abandoning hatred? It is said, "Whoever" and so on. The saying, "Happy in this and other lives," means happy in this life, the next life, both, oneself, others, both, directly, indirectly, and in both ways. So, how should hatred be abandoned? To show that hatred is abandoned by abandoning food, it is said, "Unwanted" and so on. Among them, the first two roots explain the cause of the food. The third explains the nature. The fourth explains the function. The second verse explains the reasonableness of abandoning through abandoning food. The third and fourth verses explain the reason why the food itself should be abandoned. So, how should the food of hatred be abandoned? Because it is to be abandoned through three kinds of patience, first, in order to show that displeasure is abandoned by not paying attention to the harmer, it is said, "I or" and so on. Among them, the first verse explains the difference of beings' desires. The upper half of the second verse explains the occurrence of things that do not agree with desires. The first root of the upper half explains the practice of the antidote. The second root explains the exhortation to abandon displeasure. Among them, the difference of beings' desires is fourfold, namely, for myself and my relatives, etc., I do not desire suffering, etc., but I desire happiness, etc.; for enemies, I do not desire happiness to occur, but I desire suffering to occur, and at that time, the cause of happiness is rare, and the cause of suffering is very great, therefore happiness is poor. When there is a lot of suffering, if there is no suffering, there will be no weariness of the three realms, and one will not seek liberation, therefore, by knowing that suffering is virtuous, one abandons displeasure, meaning to abide steadfastly in the ordinary state. So, what if one cannot endure harm and suffering? The so-called "Difficult to overcome" refers to Mahadeva and the goddess Uma Devi,

Because that is the hand of asceticism. This should be understood from worldly history. Therefore, even the heretics who believe in it, if they can endure the suffering of offering five fires and so on, why can't I endure it? That is the meaning. If it is said that it is very difficult, then it is said "after getting used to it" and so on. Now, under the control of enduring to accept suffering, it is said "transformation" and so on. In the world, even if one endures the harm of transformation and so on without meaning, in the case of practicing the holy Dharma with great meaning, when suffering such as heat arises, one should not generate unpleasant annoyance, because there is the fault of generating hatred. So what should be done? It is said "some people" and so on, understand the benefits of enduring suffering, and like the former people, one should generate joy in it, and not generate unpleasantness, that is the meaning. Therefore, it is concluded with "therefore" and so on. Therefore, ordinary enemies will die by themselves, so killing them is not a hero. Because afflictions will not leave until the antidote is generated. The one who abandons them is the great hero. Therefore, it is said "fighting and" and so on. Furthermore, in order to abandon unpleasantness by knowing the merits of suffering, it is said "furthermore" and so on. The three words "sadness" are to combine the merit of suffering existing in the continuum of oneself, others, and both, in order. Now, for those who harm oneself, under the control of the ultimate truth, under the control of the practice of patience that necessarily contemplates the characteristics of the Dharma, it is said "bile etc." and so on. Because the bile etc. that exists in oneself is the cause of suffering. It is reasonable to be angry with it, but for those who do harm, one should not be angry, because they do harm not by nature, but arise from sudden causes, so one should think that there is no self-nature in the ultimate truth. How does it arise from sudden causes?
