Then, it is said, "agreeing" and so on. That is from the point of view of summarizing, like "Thus, for a long time, continuously becoming an enemy," etc., summarized in one verse, and by "the sole cause of increasing the accumulation of harm," it is explained that if gods, etc., the meaning is shown in summary with two verses. Like "surely dwelling in my heart," etc., it shows the meaning of summarizing the verse "on my mind." Therefore, as long as it is not abandoned, how can one be fearless and happy in samsara? That is (the meaning of what is said). Other faults are also because of the cause of afflictions, created by karma and afflictions, so they are bound in the three realms. Because of doing unwholesome deeds, when born in hell, like iron-beaked birds, etc., harm me. Therefore, it is said, "This is samsara," etc. Therefore, in the Compendium of Trainings it says: The guards guarding the prison of existence, such as the dogs of hell, etc., also arise from past karma. Therefore, this affliction is like not being free from the iron cage that a lion feels, so it is said, "guarding diligence," etc. Therefore, in order to abandon it and generate diligence, it is said, "how and when," etc. However, because I cannot bear the suffering of abandoning afflictions, I think that I cannot initiate the diligence to abandon it. It is said, "temporary harm," etc., and "dying by nature," etc. Like this, the summarized meaning is that even an ordinary enemy, because of generating hatred, in order to retaliate against him, one does not give up even a moment of sleep, but strives diligently. Because it is the cause of constant great harm, why not strive intensely to abandon afflictions? Also, ordinary enemies will die naturally even if I do not kill them. In order to kill them, one endures and accepts the suffering of that time. The enemies of afflictions will not die until they are killed by my antidote sword.

In order to destroy those who are destined to be enemies because of change, what need is there to mention enduring and accepting the temporary suffering of destroying them? If someone says: This suffering is harmful to me, so I can endure it. Then, even meaningless suffering is not considered harmful, because they satisfy the heretical world. Therefore, the suffering of abandoning afflictions has a very important meaning, why should it be considered harmful? It is not so, so it should be endured. Furthermore, in the world, even for small things, it is seen that people endure great suffering, why can't I endure it for the great benefit of others? It should be endured very much. The fisherman and so on are mentioned. If someone thinks: What is the reason why afflictions should be abandoned? In order to explain the reason, the ten directions and so on are mentioned. The summary here is: Because I have vowed to abandon the afflictions of all sentient beings, when I am liberated, I can liberate others, if I have not crossed over myself, I cannot save others, for this reason, I should strive to abandon my own afflictions. If someone asks: Then, how should afflictions be abandoned? Through two ways. Among them, first, from the perspective of the two kinds of afflictions relying on the continuum, the abandonment of afflictions is explained. First, from the perspective of holding grudges residing on the continuum, the abandonment of afflictions and so on are mentioned. If someone asks: What is holding grudges? Knowing the faults of afflictions as they are, and the characteristic of not forgetting, that is mindfulness, because it is similar to holding grudges. The affliction of holding grudges is just a name, in reality the nature of affliction is not like that. Now, in order to establish from the cause of affliction of the characteristic of pride, it is mentioned that I am burned and so on. If someone asks: What is pride? It resides on mindfulness and awareness,

In reality, not letting one's mind be controlled by afflictions is merely called an affliction of pride similar to pride, but in reality, it is not the essence of affliction itself. However, if afflictions are eliminated through those methods, then, at that time, wouldn't ordinary enemies harm me elsewhere? To show that it will not cause harm, the four lines such as "ordinary enemy" and the two lines of "remove me from the mind" are mentioned. Then, why haven't they been eliminated? The term "mind clinging" is mentioned, meaning that it is only because of effort that it has not been eliminated, but not because of the fear of later illnesses. Now, in order to eliminate afflictions from the root, it is said, "affliction, affliction," etc. These afflictions of afflictions such as desire must be eliminated with the eye of wisdom that focuses on the selflessness of all dharmas, because in this way, the root of all afflictions, the clinging to the appearance of reality, can be eliminated. As it is said in the Entering Reality Treatise: "From clinging to reality, all faults arise, enemies such as attachment and hatred are born, if they are extinguished, they will not be born, therefore, they should be eliminated." And in the Ornament of the Middle Way, it is also said: "The wise contemplate the selflessness of dharmas, by constantly familiarizing themselves with no self-nature, from the inverted arising of all afflictions, and their habitual tendencies can be eliminated." Therefore, then, how does one generate the eye of wisdom? It is said, "afflictions, etc.," from the ultimate truth, afflictions do not reside on objects, etc., because objects, etc., themselves are not established because they are separated from one and many. Even if objects, etc., are established, they do not reside on them, because sometimes even if pleasant things are close at hand, attachment, etc., will not arise. Therefore, since these afflictions do not reside anywhere, and the afflictions themselves have not been established, how can they harm all beings, which is unreasonable. Therefore, these afflictions are like illusions, because they have no self-nature, so from the ultimate truth, one should not fear afflictions. Therefore, by generating the eye of wisdom that realizes that affliction itself is also without self-nature,
