It is said, "Protector of teaching beings," and so on. Even if that is so, if one says, "Because this happens to everyone, I am not afraid." It is said, "Beings," and so on. Even if that is so, if one says, "It is enough to seek refuge at that very time." It is said, "Who," and so on, meaning that at that time one seeks refuge, but cannot find it. Therefore, one must seek refuge from the very beginning. Therefore, it is said, "Victorious One," and so on. If one says, "It is enough to take refuge, why is it necessary to heed his teachings?" It is said, "Ultimately by disease," and so on. If one says, "Just because the faults of disease are so great, should one heed the doctor's teachings?" It is said, "Even one," and so on. If one says, "Whose teachings should one heed?" It is said, "Healing those," and so on. Why should one heed his teachings? It is said, "The one who extracts all the thorns of suffering," and so on. If one thinks that it is enough to heed the teachings, why is it necessary to practice? It is said, "Ordinary precipice," and so on. Even if that is so, if one says that there is no need to practice at all. It is said, "Only today," and so on. If one says, "Because one must enjoy desires, one cannot practice right now." It is said, "Experienced before," and so on. If one says that one can benefit and harm relatives, enemies, and so on. It is said, "While alive," and so on. Therefore, having understood the faults of non-virtuous actions, the main thing taught is liberation from them. One should not think of anything else, so one must quickly take refuge. To conclude, one verse is spoken, "From non-virtuous actions." Now, in order to teach confession of sins with its limbs in a concise manner, it is said, "I am ignorant," and so on. Whatever is done with body, speech, and mind, motivated by an unwholesome mind, is a transgression by nature. What is not motivated by an unwholesome mind, but because of it, others become displeased, or what is done as a necessary action, all of that is a transgression by prohibition. The opposite of the above is virtue.

It should be understood that this is the work of... Also, repeatedly prostrating is called a branch of confessing sins, because it is said in the question of the attendant, "After prostrating, confess sins." Regarding this, how many places to prostrate, how many bodies, how many languages, for what purpose, how to confess, etc., should be understood as stated in the Sutra of the Three Heaps. In short, this should also be encompassed by the six perfections. This is confession from the Three Heaps, the first. However, isn't the method of purifying sins the four dharmas mentioned in the Sutra of the Four Dharmas? Why only talk about universally applying remedies and taking refuge in one direction by the power of reliance, and not mention the others? Because generating the mind of aspiration by the power of reliance and taking vows with the power of turning away from faults are the main rituals, here it speaks of the preliminary rituals. Universally applying remedies, such as offerings, has been mentioned before, and later it will also show rejoicing, etc., so it is not mentioned separately here. If that were the case, then taking refuge has also been mentioned above, so it should not be mentioned here, right? That is not the case, because what was said above is as the reliance for taking vows, while here it speaks of the method of quickly purifying sins, so there is no fault. Now, taking the fourth cause, rejoicing, as the basis, it shows rejoicing in the roots of virtue of sentient beings. Saying "of sentient beings," etc., it rejoices in the roots of virtue of those whose lineage is extinct and those who have lineage, which are two verses and the order. With the two verses "embodied beings," etc., it shows rejoicing in the roots of virtue of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. With the six verses "protectors," etc., it shows rejoicing in the roots of virtue of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. That is, the intention to obtain benefit for oneself and to accomplish the benefit of others.

And rejoice in the Bodhicitta generated by others for the benefit of others, and the roots of virtue that actually benefit others. Connect the two sentences in order. The fifth method of accumulating merit is to say "all directions" etc., based on the encouragement to turn the wheel of Dharma. The Buddha is only a representation, and it should be known that one should also encourage the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas and ordinary people, as stated in the Sutra of the Three Aggregates. Now the sixth is to say "Victorious One" etc., based on the request not to enter Nirvana. Giving the roots of virtue to sentient beings is only a representation, and similarly one should also give to Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. This is also as stated in the Sutra of the Three Aggregates and the Praise of the Noble Vajra Banner. After explaining the giving of the roots of virtue, in order to eliminate the thought of "Is it only these that are given?", he said "body" etc. This shows what is given, that is, the supreme thing. "In order to accomplish the meaning of all sentient beings, give without stinginess", this shows in order the purpose and the pure supreme. The remaining parts show the basis and the dedication supreme. Why give everything? "Giving everything will eliminate suffering", meaning that giving everything will enter into morality, thereby perfecting patience. Through diligence such as much learning, and thereby abiding in Samadhi, and then through the arising of wisdom, one can be liberated from suffering. The supreme skillful means should be understood through meaning, because without these one cannot attain great Bodhi. Even so, why give everything? He said, "I desire to achieve Nirvana," because I am striving for this. If even that cannot be done? He said, "Give everything" etc., death etc. will inevitably be abandoned.
