What is that? It is those who are deceived by desire, for the sake of desire or deceived by desire, that is, rebuke. In order to show that even in this life, suffering is seen for those who have a greedy mind, so it is said "greedy people" and so on. For example, robbing other people's wives and property, etc. The rest is easy to understand. In addition, when acquiring wealth by accomplishing happiness itself, it is also intended to show that this is the cause of the arising of meaningless decline, so it is said "accumulation" and so on. Etc. means making nothing, etc. Guarding is that even those accumulated with difficulty and hardship must be completely guarded from the five things that are consumed by water and fire, etc. Even guarding so extremely difficultly is destroyed by hundreds of thieves, etc., so it is painful and unhappy, the cause of suffering is waste, and that itself is the cause of meaningless decline, because after observing the cause, it is said that wealth itself is waste. Because one is always distracted by accumulation, etc., and because with a mind attached to wealth, there is not even a moment to focus on samadhi, there is no opportunity to be liberated from the suffering of birth, etc., which depends on samsara, because one's mind is always focused on this, and life and actions are exhausted. In short, in order to completely abandon greed, one is made happy with disgusting words, saying "for the greedy ones" and so on. Like that is observing the way of speaking. The fault is waste, and there are many kinds, but here there is not even a word that produces happiness. Even so, from the inverted, it appears that out of a hundred, this is happiness, if that is the case. Like a livestock with a tired body oppressed by an extremely heavy burden, grasping a little grass, for that part of happiness that has become so extremely meager and small, that is also common with livestock, for that meaning, the reason is that the perfect leisure that is difficult to obtain, that is, this liberation from the eight unfree states, has been destroyed and damaged, meaning that it has been made meaningless. What is the difference? It is difficult to obtain.

Thus it has been said. By what is it said? It is tormented by karma, and karma is past karma. What is tormented by it is the mind that is inverted in knowing what is beneficial and what is not, meaning it is done by ignorance. This is a word used for things, and it is said to be tormented by eons. The two verses, 'Surely it will perish and become small,' etc., show the nature of inversion. 'Surely it will perish' is the nature of not relying. 'Small' is relative to transcendence of the world, and it is small because of extreme difference. 'Falling into hell, etc.' means that relying on immeasurable suffering, one is not even able to generate one's own happiness. The body is one's own body, and the meaning of this is for the sake of generating happiness. This is done without considering the suffering of hell, etc., and at all times, in samsara, a millionth of what was done in the past is entirely mine and is afflicted. From that, even a hundredth of a millionth, one can become a Buddha through diligence. Relative to that, Buddhahood is attained with a very short time. Thus, for that reason, those of little wisdom should not rejoice. But then, is it because practicing the conduct of enlightenment is also done with a hundred difficulties, and therefore generates countless thousands of sufferings? It is said, 'Possessing desire,' etc. Whoever practices in samsara for the sake of desire, relative to the suffering of the practice of enlightenment, this itself is a very great suffering. Because they cause one to fall into Avici hell, and because one experiences it for a long time under the control of others. Bodhisattvas, on the other hand, definitely experience it at various times as they themselves desire, so it is not like that. Thus, whatever suffering the Bodhisattvas experience for the sake of others, that turns into enlightenment. The meaning is that those who have desire experience suffering for the sake of desire, but it does not turn into enlightenment. Moreover, in order to particularly show that suffering is caused by desire, it is said, 'Hell, etc.,' etc.
