Relying on confession to completely purify sins can be exemplified by the story of the enlightenment of the pig girl. As the sutra says: Those who have gone for refuge to the Buddha will never fall into the lower realms. Having abandoned this human body, they will obtain the body of the gods. Thus, it can also be said in terms of taking refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. This also shows the power of the antidote. It also shows uncertainty, as stated in the sutra, "oneself or..." etc., that is, oneself or relying on others is fine, the key is to wholeheartedly engage in the work of benefiting sentient beings. How is it said to be uncertain? As stated in the sutra, "Bodhisattvas..." etc., because having understood the true nature of all things, there is not even a little bit of evil that should be learned by the sons of the Buddhas who strive diligently to accomplish the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings. Otherwise, they will not be able to accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings, and if they act in this way, the accumulation of merit will also become inexhaustible. As it is said in the sutra, "This basis of learning should also be upheld," such as "personally or..." etc., even if one does things like making food oneself, or urges others, or conveys through messengers, or personally does things like giving offerings, it is all fine. Whatever does not become a cause for the benefit and happiness of sentient beings should not be done, nor should others be taught to do it. Not only that, in order to liberate sentient beings who are drowning in the suffering of samsara from samsara, even the smallest root of virtue should be completely dedicated to the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. These two verses show the swiftness of the increase of merit. As it is said in the sutra, "Do not abandon the virtuous friend," such as "constantly" etc., virtue refers to the karma of obtaining higher rebirth and definite goodness. A friend is an incomparable intimacy, and one does not abandon them even when faced with the danger of losing one's life. The benefits of a virtuous friend can also be known from the chapter on Sadāprarudita in the Eight Thousand Verse Prajñāpāramitā Sutra. It is also said in the Sutra of Four Dharmas: O monks!

A Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should not abandon a spiritual friend even for the sake of life, let alone for anything else, as long as he lives. Not abandoning completely refers to the characteristics of a spiritual friend. A Bodhisattva is one who abides in the precepts of the Bodhisattva's training and is skilled in the meaning of the Great Vehicle; such a one is extremely difficult to find. In order to fully understand the service to a spiritual friend, it is said, "Glorious Birth." As it says in the chapter on the Glorious Birth in the *Arrayed Tree Sutra*: One should learn and understand the service to a spiritual friend. As the noble Glorious Birth taught in the *Arrayed Tree Sutra*: Bodhisattvas who are properly guided by a spiritual friend will not fall into the lower realms. A spiritual friend enables one to comprehend what should not be done, truly turns one away from the state of carelessness, and liberates one from the city of samsara. Son of good family, therefore, one should go to the spiritual friends with uninterrupted mindfulness. One should serve the spiritual friend with a mind like the earth, unwearied by bearing all burdens with respect; a mind like a vajra, unwavering in thought; a mind like a surrounding wall, unmoved by all suffering; a mind like a worldly servant, not despising the undertaking of all tasks; a mind like a broom, completely abandoning pride and arrogance; a mind like a vehicle, bearing heavy burdens; a mind like a dog, not getting angry; a mind like a boat, untiring in going and coming; and a mind like a virtuous son, looking to the spiritual friend's face. Son of good family, you should generate the perception of being a patient towards yourself, the perception of being a doctor towards the spiritual friend, the perception of being medicine towards the teachings, and the perception of nursing the sick towards diligent practice. Son of good family, you should generate the perception of fear towards yourself, the perception of being a hero towards the spiritual friend, and towards the
