Or, is it speech that harms the praise of others? Or, is it speech that does not do verbal body cleansing? Do not utter words that prophesy with false pride. Like this, by abandoning meaningless actions, in order to abandon meaninglessness, it is shown to protect the body. Therefore, I should be well established in discipline, unwavering, and not lax. These will also be accomplished by keeping the mind in equanimity. Therefore, having realized this great nature of tranquility, one should take it seriously and practice it. This will make reverence for the trainings become strong, and that will also bring mindfulness to the fore, and when mindfulness is present, it will abandon meaninglessness, and meaninglessness will arise from it. Therefore, one who wants to protect the body should seek the root of mindfulness and always be constantly present in mindfulness. That is: Among them, what is protecting the body? It is abandoning meaninglessness. Through what is all this attained? Through abandoning meaningless actions. That is also always accomplished through mindfulness, mindfulness arises from great reverence, reverence is the great nature of peace, and having recognized it, diligence arises. It is said. The great nature of tranquility will also be explained from this as appropriate. Here, in order to abandon meaninglessness, one should understand the meaning of the summary, which is shown through three verses. It is said "very certain" etc. Very certain is abandoning doubt and reversal. Excellent is always joy and much mental happiness. Steadfast is unexamined. Reverence is what has been said. Honorific is bowing the mind to things that should be pleased, and acting with them. Having wonder is the same as before. Having fear is fearing the world because of the occurrence of confusion. Tranquility is truly subduing the senses. Having diligence is being diligent in making beings happy, and because one person's desires are transferred to another, the mutually incompatible desires of each being are not protected, and there is no resentment in the heart. How is it? Having love, this is the word of reason. Because afflictions arise, that is, self

Because there is no autonomy. "This" refers to those, that is, recognizing that the behaviors of these children are discordant with each other. Controlling myself and sentient beings means depending on oneself and others, that is, at all times. Is it at all times? No, for things without fault, that is, for those who are free from two faults. What is it like? Like an illusion, that is, like something that has been created by illusion, free from pride. One should hold pride well, that is, like "I am like this," a Bodhisattva should keep in mind. From this way of remembering arising, one should also protect by abandoning meaningless thoughts. So it is said. The so-called "long time" etc., that is, the leisure and endowment obtained after an extremely long time, should be done again and again without interruption with a mind of mindfulness, and it should be firm. Like that, it is of a stable nature. Completely immovable means that the winds of desire and other discriminations, like the king of mountains, cannot be shaken. Like that, those who mutually increase with discipline and samadhi are accomplishing the work of the mind. Therefore, the Bodhisattva's training is to tame one's own mind, these are abiding. Therefore, what is there: apart from the asceticism of guarding one's own mind, what is the use of doing many ascetic practices? So it is said, that is abiding. Again, in order to firmly hold that one with certainty, separately observing the body, "vulture" etc. are said. For the body, there is nothing to do in any case, because one does not have the ability oneself. Otherwise, the body separated from the mind, being dragged and devoured by vultures etc., why not repair it again in order to protect oneself? This is asking. Because there is no ability at all, therefore one should accomplish taming one's own mind. After taming one's own mind, one can achieve taming the body without effort, because the body depends on the mind. It will be so proclaimed. Like that, the body that is useless in any case, denies dependence and attachment. "This body" etc. are said, alas, mind!
