Even if you cut, stab, crush, dismember, and even let blood flow, do not bow your head to the enemies of affliction, do not follow them, do not act according to their commands, that is its meaning. Sixth chapter. "In all circumstances" means forever. Even if you expel it from its own place, if it relies on a powerful place, wouldn't it come to eliminate you like other enemies? At that time, how should it be remedied? For this doubt, it is said "ordinary enemies" and so on. Other ordinary enemies, even if expelled from one place, in order to increase strength from somewhere, gain power to eliminate the enemy, the other place to return to exists, but this is not the case for the enemy of affliction, unlike other enemies, its behavior is invisible. If you still think so, how will it change? It is said "affliction, affliction" and so on. If expelled from my mind, where will this enemy of affliction go to abide? Where will it abide and then strive to harm me? Its location is invisible. It is thought that for something that has disappeared from the root, it should not rise again. Because the movement of wisdom cannot be grasped, I only have unhappiness, but this affliction, because it has no root, can be eliminated simply by seeing the true nature, so it is an affliction. In order to better prove this, it is said "afflictions" and so on. Even if you see pleasant objects and so on, some who guard the sense faculties do not generate afflictions, and if analyzed, even the finest dust cannot be seen, so they do not dwell in the object. For the collection of sense faculties such as the eye, they also do not dwell as before, because in the state of thinking about the Dharma and so on, even if the object of the sense faculty exists, it is invisible. It is not between the object and the sense faculty, it does not dwell in the middle, because the appearance is invisible. It is also uncertain to dwell in some other place than these. Therefore, because it has no root, it is empty in the ultimate sense, it is only temporary, because it arises from non-true imputation.
