If one does not strive for extensive learning to liberate all sentient beings from suffering, and does not exert effort in other virtuous deeds and the accumulation of Bodhi, then that Bodhisattva is deceiving the world, including the gods. Such a person, who has seen the Buddhas in the past, is ridiculed, mocked, and condemned by the gods, who say: 'Those who vow to make great offerings but cause the masters of offerings to fall into ruin are rare.' O Ocean of Wisdom, therefore, a Bodhisattva should not speak words that deceive the world, including gods, humans, and asuras. Even if one breaks a very small vow, the consequence of falling becomes heavy. As stated in the sutras such as 'Ordinary Things': Even if it is just a small amount of food, if one thinks, 'I should give this,' but then changes one's mind and does not give it, it is said that one will be reborn as a preta in the next life, as stated in the scriptures. Similarly, if one vows to give but does not give, it is said that sentient beings will go to hell. Unsurpassed means that there is nothing higher than it, nothing above it is unsurpassed. Bliss means the characteristic of being supremely high and definitively good, which is an extraordinary characteristic. Loud voice means making a great effort in front of the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and the world including the gods, saying loudly: 'Today I will protect all.' and 'I will liberate those who have not been liberated.' etc. With a sincere heart means with great respect. What will my situation be if that goal is not achieved? These are also from the Sutra of the Establishment of Mindfulness of the Sacred Dharma: If one only thinks a little and does not give, one will be born in the realm of pretas; if one vows and does not give, one will fall into the realm of hell. How much more so if one vows to achieve the unsurpassed for the benefit of all beings but does not do it? Therefore, in the Sutra of the Collection of the True Dharma, it is also said: Son of good family, Bodhisattva

One should strive to become someone who is brave and committed to truth. Son of good family, speaking the truth accurately is speaking the Dharma accurately. Son of good family, what is truth in this context? It is when a Bodhisattva generates the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and does not abandon that mind even for the sake of life, nor turns away from sentient beings. This is the truth of a Bodhisattva. When a Bodhisattva generates the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, but later abandons that mind and turns away from sentient beings, this is the ultimate falsehood spoken by a Bodhisattva. Thus it is said. If that were the case, how could the venerable Śāriputra, who in previous lives generated the mind of enlightenment and strived for perfect and complete enlightenment, entered into various assemblies, and venerated ten thousand Buddhas, and then heard that Māra had interfered and abandoned the mind of enlightenment, how could he be justified in attaining the enlightenment of a Śrāvaka and being able to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings? He spoke of "whoever" and so on. In all ways, only the Bhagavan Buddha, who knows the suchness of all things, knows the inconceivable ways of karma. Because the ways of karma are of various natures, this matter is not within the scope of those who see the near shore. Whoever abandons the mind of enlightenment, having made it manifest to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and having vowed to it, is actually liberating those sentient beings who were previously the object of the vow from the suffering of samsara. The reasoning for this seems to be that the venerable Śāriputra did not completely abandon the mind of liberation in all ways; even if he abandoned the mind of perfect enlightenment, he still attained the enlightenment of a Śrāvaka. Therefore, relying on that ability, he will liberate sentient beings for as long as it takes, and there is no fault in that. Abandoning what came along the way and applying it to the present situation. Therefore, it is said, "Bodhisattva" and so on. Therefore, because of the commitment to the benefit of all sentient beings, it is for that reason. And why is that so? Whoever...
