It is the meaning of doing. Transcending is trampling. The opposite of that is not transcending. To strive for this is to accept. Not being distracted is being without laziness. As it is said in the Holy Gaya Gori: Bodhisattvas who take practice as their essence have enlightenment, but those who do not take practice as their essence do not, as it is said. Also in the Holy Samadhiraja Sutra: Young man, therefore you should learn in such a way as to become one who takes practice as his essence. Young man, why is that? Because for one who takes practice as his essence, it is not difficult to attain unsurpassable, perfect and complete enlightenment. The bodhisattva's training should also be extensively learned from the distinctions of the perfections, the immeasurable, the objects of collection, and from sutras such as Inexhaustible Intelligence and Jewel Giving. Similarly, even for those who abide in worldly trainings and so forth, bodhisattvas should train, what need is there to mention meditations and so forth that are beyond the world? Otherwise, how could one be able to benefit sentient beings in all ways? In short, the accomplishment of the nature of the bodhisattva's means and wisdom is neither merely wisdom nor merely means. Among these, all the perfections such as generosity and so forth other than the perfection of wisdom, and the objects of collection and so forth, are said to be roots of virtue that gather all the exalted qualities such as purifying the field, great enjoyment, a large retinue, truly ripening sentient beings, and emanations. Wisdom is the cause that completely ascertains the very nature of the means themselves as non-inverted. This meaning should also be examined extensively in Kamalashila's Stages of Meditation. This chapter also teaches about guarding, purifying, and increasing these, or it only teaches about guarding. At the very beginning, one should also first know whether or not one has the ability to keep the bodhisattva vows, and then take the vows. Then, the bodhisattva who has taken the vows should think like this, which is called recklessness.

It is said, including "etc." The term "rash" means acting rashly. Whatever is undertaken, if it is not carefully considered, even if it has been promised, it only relies on the alternation of "doing" or "abandoning." If it should be examined in that way, but it is not, therefore it is said, "The Buddhas, etc." The term "of the Buddha" is because it is praised in the Sutras such as the 'Good Arm's Questions.' The term "his son is the great wise one" refers to what is said by Bodhisattvas such as the noble Maitreya in the Sutras such as the 'Noble Tree Adornment.' The term "oneself also does as much as possible" means examining according to one's own wisdom and ability. What is there to postpone about this? Why postpone it? Or, what remaining doubt is there? Therefore, it is proper to do it well as promised. Otherwise, here one would also deceive the Buddhas, all Bodhisattvas, and the world including the gods. If that is the case, it is said, "If that is the case," etc. The term "after promising that way" is for the sake of liberating those who are not liberated, freeing those who are not freed, comforting those who are not comforted, and causing those who are not completely in Nirvana to completely enter Nirvana. If, after comforting, one does not accomplish it with action, if the work is not completed, then this person deceives and seduces all beings such as gods and humans. What will my destination become? He thought, there is no other destination besides the hells of sentient beings, etc. This meaning is also explained in the 'Noble Manjushri's Ocean of Wisdom Sutra': Manjushri's Ocean of Wisdom, for example, if a king or a great minister invites all the people of the city to a feast tomorrow, but does not provide food and drink, then he has deceived all those people, and those people are ridiculed and return because they have not received food and drink. Similarly, Manjushri's Ocean of Wisdom, if a Bodhisattva cannot liberate those who are not liberated, free those who are not freed, comfort those who are not comforted.
