Because it is boundless, it is like the ocean, therefore it is called the ocean. How did it become like that? "Making all sentient beings happy" means that making all sentient beings happy refers to the nature of that taste merging into one. "Benefiting all sentient beings" means those who bestow benefits. "Teacher" and so on refer to teaching, which is the method that the Buddha himself is skilled at, and because it is that meaning, it is called that. Whatever exists in a place, it is called that, and the teacher refers to the Bodhisattvas. As it is said, "This is the mastery of the method itself, therefore it is hoped that the meaning is teaching." This is how it is taught. Or, because this has the nature of a teacher, it is called a teacher, and Bodhisattvas also gather beings by gathering things like generosity, thereby entering the correct path. After expressing rejoicing in them, in order to express exhortation, it is said "all directions" and so on, among which "lighting the lamp of Dharma" means, for those who are obscured by ignorance and completely do not understand the path and non-path of sentient beings, please illuminate them in the identity of the Dharma teacher. These are expressions of exhortation. What expresses prayer is "Victorious Nirvana" and so on, for those saints who wish to be completely liberated from suffering by completing their deeds, pray that they remain in the world for countless eons. "Not changed by ignorance" means, like before, do not become unrecognizable of the path and without thought. This also expresses prayer, and now immediately after praying, the dedication is made, saying "Thus, those" and so on, like this, according to the order taught, offering to all of them, confessing sins, rejoicing in merits, etc., after practicing, the good deeds that I have accumulated, that is, whatever good is obtained, may this enable all sentient beings, that is, all lives, all suffering to be completely pacified, that is, all poverty can be completely pacified. These are general dedications, and then specifically, for sick beings

Etc., were spoken. Then, the word "that" should be applied in all appropriate places. A sick person is one who is tormented by illness. Medicine refers to drugs. A doctor is one who performs medical treatment. His caregiving refers to attending to that sick person. Until recovery means until the illness is completely cured. Hunger means starvation. Thirst means dryness of the mouth, which causes harm. Eliminating it means dispelling it. Raining down food and drink means with a continuous stream of abundant food and drink. During the intermediate kalpa of famine, there is a saying: "Kalpa, weapons, and diseases, as well as famine, will completely destroy." This means that beings, when their lifespan is ten years, will be destroyed by famine at the end of the intermediate kalpa. Seven years, seven months, and seven days will appear, as it is said: "Kalpa, weapons, and diseases, as well as famine, will completely destroy. The days and months, as well as seven years, in order." There, because there is no food and drink, eating each other's flesh and bones is food. Some people cannot even find these and die because there is no food, there, may it become food and drink. Poverty refers to those who have no wealth. Inexhaustible refers to wealth that will not be depleted no matter who plunders it. Various kinds of necessities refer to bedding, cushions, dwellings, clothing, ornaments, and ointments, etc., whatever beings desire, they can easily obtain. May oneself be able to abide, may each be able to abide. In front of those poor beings, means in front. When dedicating, this is also extensively explained in the Sutra of Noble Vajra Banner, where it says: "When he dedicates those roots of virtue, he should dedicate in this way: May this root of virtue, in order to dispel all my aggregates of suffering, become the dwelling of all beings. In order to completely liberate from all afflictions, become the protector of all beings. In order to protect from all fears, become the refuge of all beings. In order to follow all lands, may the mind
