If the intrinsic nature is not the ultimate truth, then refuting it is unreasonable, because it would become devoid of the ultimate truth itself. Thus, the arising and ceasing of things have been proven to be non-existent in the ultimate truth. In order to conclude, it is said, "Thus," and so forth. Thus, in the order of expression, arising and ceasing are unreasonable. Moreover, "also" is the reason, for what reason is there no cessation? Because there is no destruction. Things also exist, and the word "also" is جمع (collection), at all times, whether the Tathāgatas appear or the Tathāgatas do not appear, the Dharma-nature of the Dharmas remains, namely, the equality of Dharmas, the abiding of Dharmas, the certainty of Dharmas, the element of Dharmas, Suchness, and the non-perverted Suchness, and so forth. Therefore, all these beings are always unborn and unceasing, and in the ultimate truth, unborn means non-arisen, and unceasing means non-destroyed. Therefore, all these without exception, which are separated from the previously mentioned arising and ceasing, are without intrinsic nature and have the same basis. Beings are diverse, namely, sentient beings and the world of containers, or moving and unmoving, and like the arising and ceasing of illusions, due to the power of names, they are both arising and ceasing. This shows that the conventional truth does not cease. In the *Dharma Samgraha* it is also said: "Son of good family, Suchness is called the synonym of emptiness, and emptiness is unborn and unceasing. Whatever the Blessed One has said, 'All Dharmas are empty,' therefore, all Dharmas are unborn and unceasing." The Bodhisattva Asanga said: "Son of good family, it is so. Just as it is understood, all Dharmas are unborn and unceasing." He said: "If the Blessed One has said, 'All conditioned Dharmas arise and cease,' what did the Tathāgata intend by this?" He said: "Son of good family, the world abides in arising and ceasing."

Therefore, the Tathagata, with great compassion, in order to eliminate the fearful places of the world, speaks of arising and ceasing by the power of convention, saying that there is no dharma that arises or ceases here. Therefore, all dharmas are of the nature of unborn and unceasing, and are primordially peaceful, naturally in nirvana. Thus, beings themselves are without inherent existence, and the beings belonging to them, such as hells, are also without inherent existence. To show this, dreams and so on are spoken of. Whatever is similar to a dream is called that. This "is" is what must be grasped. The beings of inherent nature seen in dreams are the differences of kind, such as hells, hungry ghosts, animals, humans, and gods. For example, just as in a dream one goes to other places, comes, and experiences happiness and suffering, so too, for those who have not understood the ultimate truth, it should be understood in places such as hells, but that is not the ultimate truth. Why? If analyzed, it is like a water bubble, this is a statement of reason. When all dharmas are analyzed and examined by their lack of inherent existence, why are they like water bubbles? It means that like water bubbles, they are beings without essence. This was said before. "Because this is like an illusion, one should abandon fear in the heart, and because one knows this, one should strive." And so on will also be proven. Because all dharmas are unborn and unceasing, "sorrow" and so on are spoken of. For the sake of nirvana, having abandoned the obscurations of all dharmas, one is therefore liberated from all bonds. Those who are not in nirvana are those who are bound by the ropes of afflictions such as desire, and whose mind streams are immersed in the prison of samsara. There is no difference between these two, there is no distinction, and it is not existence. Why? Because in things, that is, in the ultimate truth, all dharmas are naturally in nirvana by their lack of inherent existence in the ultimate truth.

Moreover, it is shown many times that there are differences in conventional truth. Therefore, it is said: "The Buddhas and the realm of sentient beings, in terms of ultimate meaning, are no different from this. It is good that you consider yourself and others to be the same as this." Therefore, ignorant people who do not fully understand the ultimate truth, due to attachment, make false assumptions and discriminate against beings, thereby disturbing themselves. To show this, it is said, "Thus," etc. Like this, speaking of emptiness in the manner of explanation, what is there to be obtained for those without inherent existence? By obtaining what does one become happy? Nothing at all is obtained from anything. What is there to lose? By losing what does one become angry? Nothing will be lost. Reverence is offering, and complete contempt is also harm. Who will affect whom? When the inherent nature of things does not exist, no one will affect anyone. That is its meaning. Why? Because where do happiness and suffering come from? Because there is no cause of suffering. Moreover, the word "also" has the meaning of mutual inclusion. For those who strive for gaining and abandoning, what is there to be happy about? What do they lack in the nature of happiness? Because it is the nature of discrimination. What is there to be unhappy about? What is there that should not be wanted? There is nothing that should not be wanted, and nothing at all exists in the ultimate truth. In that case, why strive to meet and separate from lovely and unlovely things? Who will exist? Who will crave for gain? What does he crave for? He craves for things in the place of attachment. Search there, search completely through inherent nature. Because there is no object for it, therefore, because there is no object, it also does not exist. By what karma, etc.? When discriminating, when determining the essence of inherent nature in the ultimate truth. The living world refers to the world of sentient beings. Who, that is, not anything, because that does not exist. Who will die here? The living
