It doesn't think, 'I will perform the act of depending.' Similarly, the water element doesn't think, 'I will moisten the seed.' The fire element doesn't think, 'I will completely warm the seed.' The wind element doesn't think, 'I will cause the seed to swell.' The space element doesn't think, 'I will perform the act of not obstructing the seed.' Time also doesn't think, 'I will perform the act of transforming the seed.' The seed also doesn't think, 'I will manifest the sprout.' The sprout also doesn't think, 'I am manifested by these conditions,' Although it doesn't think like that, when these conditions are present and the seed ceases, the sprout will manifest and be accomplished. Similarly, when the flower is present, it will also manifest and be accomplished up to the fruit. The sprout is not made by me, not made by another, not made by both, not made by Ishvara, not transformed by time, not arising from nature, and not born from no cause. However, when the elements of earth, water, fire, wind, space, and time gather, and the seed ceases, the sprout will manifest and be accomplished. Therefore, external dependent arising should be viewed as related to conditions. Therefore, external dependent arising should be viewed in five aspects. What are the five? Not permanent, not annihilation, not transfer, the manifestation of a great fruit from a small cause, and a lineage similar to it. How is it not permanent? Because the sprout is different and the seed is also different. The sprout is not the seed, and the cessation of the seed is not the cause of the sprout's arising, nor is non-cessation the cause. The seed ceases, and at that very moment the sprout arises, therefore it is not permanent. How is it not annihilation? The sprout is not born from the seed that ceased earlier, nor is it born from the seed that did not cease. The seed ceases, and at that very moment, like the high and low of a balance scale, the sprout arises, therefore it is not annihilation. How is it not transfer? Because the sprout is different and the seed is also different. Which sprout

Therefore, that is not a seed, therefore, it is not transformation. When a small seed is planted, a large fruit is manifestly accomplished, therefore, from the small, a large fruit is manifestly accomplished. Whatever kind of seed is planted, that kind of fruit is manifestly accomplished, therefore, in that similar lineage. Thus, the external dependent arising should be viewed in five aspects. Similarly, the internal dependent arising has already been shown by the previous extensive explanation, and this should also be combined. Thus, when examining in the ultimate truth, it is not the negation of the conventional. If things do not become eternally non-existent, but by the power of causes and conditions, they change from the future time to the present time, and again by the power of impermanence, they change from the present to the past, thus, birth, abiding, and destruction are spoken of. Dependent arising also changes in this way, and after such doubts are raised about speaking in the three times, it is said to know from others, etc. From others, that is, from place and time. That which is not to come is that which has no future at all. That which is not going is that which is not going at any time from the present time. That one nature does not abide anywhere. Thus, if in the future time it changes to the present, and from the present it is the past, then conditioned things will also become permanent, because they are everywhere. That which is called impermanent is not existent, that dharma is not permanent, how does that become? However, because the actions of the previous and later times are empty, it is the difference of dharma in all times, thus, at whatever time the agent is not obtained, whatever is not done, at that time it is said to be the future. At whatever time the agent is, that time is the present, and at whatever time it is done and ceases, that time is not the past, so is there a difference? This is also not a little, because that self-nature is also present at that time, so why does the agent not become the agent? It should be said like this. Relying on other conditions is also not reasonable from the nature of permanence.
