If it is said that phenomena arise from causes, then if it is said that phenomena, such as earth, are Ishvara, then at that time it is an admission. Although it is so, let this exist. I do not have a reversed understanding of this. Because one can see the result for those who have earth and so on and followers. What is the effort in just the name? Some names are only empty in the distinction between name and meaning. Also, this must be grasped. Just the name, why does the great author here bother to accomplish it? I say earth and so on, and you also call it the great element Ishvara, but there is no difference in meaning. For this empty reversed understanding, no result can be observed. But if there is a difference in meaning, then it is explained that this should not be Ishvara. To explain this, he said "However" and so on. With the word "However", he warned the earth and so on, which have excellent wisdom, that you should not think that earth and so on are Ishvara, because they do not have the characteristics of Ishvara. How to do it? Because it is many, that is, it is of various natures, impermanence is a destructive thing, immovable, that is, it is separated from action by knowledge itself, it is not a god, that is, it is not the nature to be offered, it is to be practiced, that is, it is to be transcended, because it is not an object of respect. It is also impure, because it is dirty, and there is also the possibility of earth and so on becoming earth and so on. Earth and so on refer to water, fire, and wind among earth and so on, and they are called that. It will not become the nature of that kind of Ishvara, because these six aspects are reversed. If it is said that earth and so on are not Ishvara, then is space Ishvara? Therefore, he said "Ishvara is not space" and so on. Space will not become Ishvara either. Why? Because it is immovable, that is, because it is separated from nature, it is immovable, and also because there is no action of other wishes. If it is said to be "I", then it is not "I", because it has already been prevented before.

Previously, the self has been widely refuted, therefore it is without inherent existence, just like a rabbit's horn. However, even so, if it is not examined, then from the perspective of the great self, because one can see the other shore, and says, "This is like this," is it therefore impossible to distinguish the inherent nature? If one asks this, then it is said, "inconceivable," and so on. If this is a great self that transcends thought, then thought itself is also a powerful agent that is far beyond the path of thought, and simultaneous arising is also inconceivable. What is the point of speaking of what cannot be examined? What is the need to speak? Because the agent itself is also inconceivable, it is not appropriate to speak. Although this is so, because this is a nature that is extremely difficult to express, it is not possible to think about it. If it is said that because the result is commonly understood by all beings, it is inconceivable, then let it be said, "It is produced by it," and so on. Even if its result is inconceivable, even so, then by what? What is it that it desires to produce? That is to say, what result does the inconceivable great self of the powerful one produce, and what manifestation does it desire? It is also a manifest desire. If one says "It is me" in a way that dispels the doubts of others, if one says "It is produced by me," if one desires "me," then this is what is being refuted. Is this not permanent? Alas, this is not permanent. If you want it to be permanent, then how could it not create? Otherwise, its very nature of permanence would be lost. Because the definition of "what exists and is without cause is permanent" would become non-existent. Furthermore, in order to show that its action of production is also not evident to others, here it is said, "earth, etc." and so on. The word "etc." includes water, fire, wind, space, time, direction, and mind. Their nature is permanent, but it is not made by it. Because it has been promised that the subtle particles of earth, etc., are permanent. For gross form as well, its action will be obstructed. The sky and so on are also to be examined. Qualities and so on are also to be examined.

Therefore. The meaning of "Isvara" is that since Isvara is also eternal, this is not the agent. In the phrase "consciousness arises from the knowable," consciousness also arises from the knowable. The word "also" indicates that until the end of samsara, since it intensely engages with the knowable, it is not the agent either. The meaning of "pleasure and pain arise from karma" is that karma is good and non-good, and thus in existence, it also transforms into pleasure and pain. That which arises from the ripening of what is desired and undesired also does not have its function. Therefore, please tell what it creates. That is, now please tell what that Isvara emanates and elaborates. Thus, if its power does not focus on anything, how can it be called the producer of beings? Now, stating the faults of all things in common, such as the cause, etc., in this way, it also transforms into the cause of beings, whether it is permanent or impermanent. Those who speak of permanence have fully investigated this. If it is permanent, then the cause, that is, the agent, has no beginning. At that time, the effect has a beginning. From where does the first effect come? Since the production of its effect is constant, from where does the beginning come? It is the meaning of "it is not." From the cause of the established nature that is constantly abiding, the effect, that is, its production, also arises continuously. Therefore, the unobstructed effect of its power constantly arises. Why does it not constantly create, that is, it does not produce all effects? Thus, at some point, the effect might be interrupted. Or, to explain it differently, if Isvara is not the agent of beings, then after destruction, how does this become a part of the initial formation? Here, it is said that the cause, etc., is the samsara that has arisen from beginningless time. From that cause arises the beginning of the nature of karma and afflictions, etc., that is, if there is no prior limit, then from where does the first creator of the nature of the effect, that is, the sentient world and the vessel world, etc., come? There is.
