In order to examine the consciousnesses of the eye and so on, it is said, "From the knowable" and so on. Like this, consciousness is not a thing that exists or does not exist anywhere. However, the forms and so on that arise from the causes and conditions of the collection of the eye and so on are said to be the holders of the knowable. In this way, one realizes by doubting the thoughts of others. Then, does it arise before the knowable, or simultaneously with the knowable, or does it arise after the knowable? If the first distinction is like this, then it is said that for the knowable, that is, for the body to be held, before, that is, earlier, when the knowable has not yet arisen, if it is said that consciousness has arisen, then, what does it rely on to arise at that time? Without the knowable as the object in the past, what does it rely on to arise? What does it depend on to arise and be produced? Relying on the second aspect, it is said that the knowable, that is, the object to be held, together, that is, simultaneously, if consciousness is like this, then, what does it rely on to arise? Because the simultaneous knowable is not a cause, because it is not an object, so from the words "the object is not a cause." If the third situation is admitted, then it is said, "However, the knowable" and so on. However, this is a question, from consciousness, this is the previous consciousness. After, this is after that, that is, at the time when the knowable is exhausted, consciousness arises and arises, then, from what does consciousness arise at that time? Because at the time of the arising of consciousness, the knowable has already ceased, so what does it rely on to become consciousness? What does it depend on to arise? Therefore, consciousness cannot be truly established even from the collection of objects and so on. The abiding in mindfulness is like what is said in the Ratnakuta Sutra, like this, completely search for the mind, the mind of desire, the mind of hatred, the mind of ignorance, what is that? Is it past, future, or present? Then, the past mind is exhausted, the future mind has not arrived, and the present mind has no place to dwell. Kashyapa, the mind is not inside, nor outside, nor does it rely on a place where both do not exist.

Odsrungs (Holder of Light) Mind is unanalyzable, unshowable, non-supportive, without appearance, without consciousness, without a place. Odsrungs, mind is unseen, not seen, and will not be seen even by all the Buddhas. Except for the arising of dharmas from inverted consciousness, even all the Buddhas have not seen, do not see, and will not see. If that is the case, how should one understand its mode of operation? Odsrungs, mind is like an illusion, holding onto many kinds of arising through untrue imputation. Odsrungs, it is like the flow of a waterfall, not staying, arising and then decaying and disappearing. Odsrungs, mind is like the wind, traveling far and wide, and the wind blows without being held. Odsrungs, mind is like the flickering of a lamp, arising from causes and conditions. Odsrungs, mind is like the sky, defiled by adventitious, proximate afflictions. Odsrungs, mind is like lightning, grasping for a moment and not staying. Similarly, combine it. Odsrungs, mind cannot be found if searched everywhere. That which cannot be found is invisible. That which is invisible is neither past, nor future, nor present, and is completely beyond the three times. That which is completely beyond the three times is neither existent nor non-existent, and so on will occur. Having thus explained the mindfulness of the mind, in order to explain the mindfulness of the Dharma, it is said to combine in the order of speech, and thus it is said, and so on. The tone of "ang" (also) means only, like this, only by the rule of how to speak, all dharmas, all things arising and arising should be understood not to be, not to be realized. Those also arise from their own cause before, or at the same time, or after, if this fault is true, how should it be refuted? Because it is separated from arising, destruction is also unreasonable, because arising from the unborn is unreasonable. Precisely because of this, by the nature of non-arising and non-destruction, because of being separated from elaboration, the door of liberation of all dharmas and
