It is also not existent. Therefore, there is no feeling here, because it is empty of the nature of feeling. Apart from manifest clinging, feeling is not truly present here, nor is it ultimately present. Because there is nothing that can truly recognize its nature and essence. As it says in the "Holy Inexhaustible Intelligence Sutra": "However, feeling is manifest clinging. Feeling is complete grasping. Feeling is close taking. Feeling is the object. Feeling is discrimination." And so on. It is also said in the "Compendium of Righteous Laws Sutra": "Feeling experience is very clear, feeling is different from the feeler, if there is no separate existence, how does it become feeling? Like Bodhi, peaceful and radiant in speech, wise people should abide in such mindfulness of this feeling." Thus, the feeler and the nature of feeling are emptiness. Since this is the case, then this is dependent arising, without action, without a master, like an illusion, this body that has become the object of the target appears. Therefore, in order to show that there is no happiness or suffering that becomes mine, thus it is proclaimed as selflessness and so on. Because in selflessness, there is no intellectualist of any self, so this masterless collection has no follower, therefore it is merely dependent arising, like the nature of illusion, when it appears as an object of the target like a magic trick, saying wonderful words: "How can this harm?" Because according to the order in which it is said, there is no experiencer, and there is no feeling, then ultimately, who will this feeling harm? Who will it cause suffering to? Upon careful analysis, there is nothing at all. Therefore, this is the inverted discrimination clinging to the reality of happiness and so on. Thus, this is the teaching of feeling mindfulness abiding. Now, in order to teach mind mindfulness abiding, it is proclaimed as "Mind is the senses" and so on, among which the boundary of the six.

This is an analysis of the mind consciousness. For example, where does the mind consciousness reside? It does not reside in the senses, such as the eyes, etc. The mind does not reside in objects such as forms, nor does it reside in between the senses and the objects, i.e., in the middle. It does not reside in the center either, because it is not of a definite nature. The scripture says, "Not inside is mind, nor outside." This means that the mind is not inside the body, nor is it found on the external limbs of the body. The scripture also says, "Nor is it found elsewhere." This means that it is not found in any other place besides the places just mentioned. If it is not found, then discrimination is not obtained. Similarly, how does it exist internally? So, how does one refute it? It is said, "Not the body," etc. This means that the mind is not the body, neither on the external body nor on the internal body. It is also not elsewhere, i.e., not on external objects other than the body. "Not mixed" refers to the difference in function. It also does not reside in a state mixed with the nature of the internal and external. The mind is not in the three, etc., nor is it independent. Nothing autonomous exists, and the mind does not exist at all in ultimate reality. It is not truly existent, but is merely imputed by conceptual thought. As long as samsara exists, the mind appears vividly like an illusion, because it has no self-nature. Therefore, the mind and life are, by their very nature, in nirvana, and are of the nature of complete liberation, because the characteristic of no self-nature, self-nature in nirvana, is always present in the continuum of all sentient beings. Although oneself is not true, due to the power of untrue conceptual thought, clinging to it as true, the mind-continuum that has been impaired by the habitual tendencies of afflictions, being obstructed by the prison of samsara, and not being free to act, is said to be not completely liberated, but in reality it is not so. Like this, the mind's
