There is not. If there is no self in any way, then, oneself is one's own protector, who else can become a protector? By taming oneself well, the wise will attain heaven. How is such a verse spoken? Because the mind is the basis for clinging to self, it is said here to be my companion. In other sutras it is said: Taming the mind is good, taming the mind obtains happiness. Because it is said to tame the mind. This is also for those who have become manifestly attached to viewing as self, in order to abandon the conceptualization of clinging to self, with the meaning of pleasing, in conventional truth, it is shown that the mind is the self, but it is not ultimate truth. This will establish what is said in the Noble Lankavatara Sutra: Person, aggregates, and realms, conditions and causes, and likewise, Isvara, Isvara, the agent, I say is only mind. Because that was also said in order to negate the manifest attachment to person as real, it is not said that the mind is only ultimately existent. Similarly, showing the self to the aggregates and so on is also a guiding meaning. Therefore, for things, the mind is also me, thinking like this is not an object of knowledge. If the mind is ultimately existent, even so, for things, that is not the object of clinging to as me, in order to show this, therefore, it is said past and so on. After completely observing and holding, the mind can be in three ways: past, future, and present. Among them, the past and future are destroyed and unborn, that kind of mind is me, but it is not an object of viewing as me. Why? This is because of what reason, the past and future minds are not like that, because they are destroyed and unborn. Whatever is past is exhausted, ceased, separated, and completely gone. Whatever is future is not obtained. Thus, will the present arising mind become me? However, it is said birth and so on, how the present arising mind that arises is me, that is also not reasonable, because if that is destroyed, oneself is without self, and also for the present

That mind that arises, even if it ceases in the second moment, is not self-existent. Moreover, the mind that previously grasped also perishes, not focusing on what arises and abides in the present. Therefore, how can the mind that is to be focused on be focused on? Therefore, the mind's focus is also non-existent, and in the state of non-focus, the clinging to self arises. Similarly, non-self is not self-existent, because it is the object of the mind itself that arises in the three times. Having established that the mind is not the object of clinging to self, to conclude, it is said, for example, like a water tree. For example, the trunk of a water tree, a section of the water tree trunk. If it is divided and separately split into parts and decomposed, even a slightly existing object cannot be found. Similarly, there is no becoming self-existent, it becomes like a water tree. The self is also the object of the consciousness that clings to self, it is not existent, like the son of a barren woman who does not exist. It is thought that there is not the slightest difference in this. How is it? When searching and investigating, and certainly examining. Furthermore, to refute what harms the self, expressing the consequence. If the mind, etc., is said, if sentient beings, self, and individuals are examined in all ways, then they do not exist. If they do not exist, then Bodhisattvas should cultivate compassion and love, without sentient beings, what will they focus on and enter? Compassion also accomplishes perfect enlightenment, because it enters into the preceding accumulation of causes such as generosity. Therefore, all Buddhas and Dharmas preceded by compassion fully enter. This is also said in the Holy Dharma Collection Sutra. Therefore, the great Bodhisattva, the Holy Avalokiteśvara, prayed to the Bhagavan thus: "Bhagavan, Bodhisattvas should not study many Dharmas. Bhagavan, Bodhisattvas should not study extremely many Dharmas. Bhagavan, Bodhisattvas

If one thoroughly grasps and understands one dharma, then all the teachings of the Bhagavan Buddha are in the palm of his hand. What is that one dharma? It is great compassion. Bhagavan, with great compassion, all the teachings of the Buddha are in the palm of the Bodhisattvas. Bhagavan, just as wherever the precious wheel of a Chakravartin king is, there is the entire assembly of the army. Bhagavan, similarly, wherever the great compassion of a Bodhisattva is, there also are all the teachings of the Buddha. Bhagavan, just as if the life force exists, other faculties will arise. Bhagavan, similarly, if great compassion exists, other dharmas that lead to enlightenment will also arise. In the Arya Gaya Shirsha Sutra also, it says: Manjushri, where should the conduct of Bodhisattvas begin, and what should they rely on? Manjushri replied: Son of the gods, the conduct of Bodhisattvas begins with great compassion and relies on sentient beings. Thus it was extensively taught. Therefore, one must first commit to compassion directed towards sentient beings, because it arises from relying on suffering sentient beings. If one says that it will not arise without sentient beings, then that is if one thinks that way. If one says that this should not be said at that time, then it is said "for the sake of the fruit" and so on, what is necessary is the object to be accomplished that is manifestly desired, which is called the purpose of a person. By committing for that purpose, therefore one should commit. Whatever is falsely imputed due to ignorance, that is fabricated, the meaning is for that sentient being. Like this, being separated from all conceptualizations and liberated from all obscurations is the purpose of a supreme person, therefore Buddhahood itself should be accomplished here. That also cannot be attained without being separated from the non-objectification of all dharmas. That also will be accomplished through perfect wisdom. That also will arise from being respectful and long accustomed to intermediate offerings. That beginning also arises from the power of compassion.
