Moreover, consciousness is the cause by its seed nature. Karma is the cause by its field nature. Ignorance and craving are the cause by their afflictive nature. Thus, karma and afflictions produce seed consciousness. Among them, karma performs the function of the field for seed consciousness. Craving moistens seed consciousness. Ignorance sows seed consciousness. Without these conditions, seed consciousness will not manifest and be accomplished. Among them, karma does not think, "I will perform the function of the field for seed consciousness." Craving does not think, "I will moisten seed consciousness." Ignorance does not think, "I will sow seed consciousness." Seed consciousness also does not think, "I am produced by these conditions." However, when seed consciousness relies on the field of karma, is moistened by the moisture of craving, and is nourished by the fertilizer of ignorance, at the time of birth, in the place of birth, the connecting womb of the mother, the sprout of name and form will manifest and be accomplished. That sprout of name and form is not made by me, not made by others, not made by both, not made by Ishvara, not transformed by time, not born from nature, not dependent on an agent, and not born from no cause. However, when father and mother meet, the time is right, and other conditions also gather, the ownerless dharma, without self, without clinging, like the sky, the nature of illusion, because these causes and conditions are complete, in the place of birth, the connecting womb of the mother, the seed consciousness with experience, the sprout of name and form will manifest and be accomplished. It can also be compared to other things. Therefore, no dharma transmigrates from this world to another world, but because the causes and conditions are complete, the result of karma is manifest. It can also be compared to other things. For example, fire will not burn if the causes and conditions are not complete, but it will burn when the causes and conditions gather. Similarly, the ownerless dharma, without self, without clinging, like the sky and

Like the nature of illusion, it is pure because it is complete with many causes and conditions. In that place of rebirth, the connection continues, and in the mother's womb, the sprout of name and form, born from the seed consciousness by karma and afflictions, is manifested and accomplished. Thus, the internal dependent origination is seen as connected with causes and conditions. Among them, there are five ways to view internal dependent origination. What are the five? Not permanent, not annihilated, not transferred, small causes produce great effects, and a continuum similar to it. How is it not permanent? The final aggregates of death also belong to other births, and other births also belong to others. What are the final aggregates of death? That itself belongs to birth. The final aggregates of death cease, and the aggregates of birth also arise, therefore it is not permanent. How is it not annihilated? The aggregates of birth do not arise from the previous cessation of the final aggregates of death. It does not arise from non-cessation either, but the final aggregates of death cease, and at the very moment of their cessation, the aggregates of birth arise like the rise and fall of a balance. Therefore, it is not annihilated. How is it not transferred? Because the types of sentient beings are different, it is established that they are born in births of equal merit, therefore it is not transferred. How do small causes produce great effects? Having done small deeds, one experiences the ripening of great fruits. Therefore, small causes manifestly accomplish great effects. How is it a continuum similar to it? Having done deeds that will be experienced in the future, one experiences the ripening of fruits that will be experienced in the future, therefore it is a continuum similar to it. Thus, these are the five ways of viewing internal dependent origination, which is extensively explained. Therefore, even without self and so on, the relationship between karma and its effects will not disappear, as the Blessed One himself has said in the sutras, and it will be declared as such. Thus, there is not even the slightest contradiction in the case of a single entity going to both.
