If it is said, how can someone become unwise? For what reason? etc., this is expressed by the two verses mentioned earlier. The words "Great Light Protector" etc. are disconnected, so it can be determined that they were not added by the author of the treatise. Therefore, this must have been added later. Even so, if one clings to the mind with characteristics, one will not be able to be liberated. Similarly, fear will also arise towards emptiness. Therefore, some think that abandoning both and abiding in samsara is the best. "Not liberated from attachment and fear" means that attachment is clinging, and fear is being afraid of hearing the sound of emptiness, because one does not understand its meaning. "Attachment and fear" is a collective term of enumeration. Therefore, abandoning both aspects, accomplishing samsara, that is, the nature of the three realms, will produce a state of abiding. The word "ni" indicates the meaning of abandoning faults, which is a fault for those who acknowledge emptiness, a common fault. Why? Because "not liberated," this is the third reason, meaning unable to be liberated. What is this like? "The suffering one," meaning abiding in the cycle of the five realms, tormented by the suffering of birth etc. How? "In meaning," meaning for the object of meaning. "Because of ignorance," meaning due to ignorance, that is, clinging to the object of focus. Therefore, this is the fruit of emptiness, that is, who would retreat from nirvana again and abide in samsara? The thought is this: just as the view with characteristics without emptiness cannot be liberated, similarly, the mind of happiness that is attached to objects will feel fear and dread because of the emptiness of all dharmas, just like the children of the past, thinking that abiding in samsara is the best, therefore retreating from the happiness of peace, experiencing the suffering of birth etc., and abiding in it again, what can this accomplish? Others think: "Liberated from the edges of attachment and fear," thinking this way, so they think this way: clinging to

Because it is the cause, accumulation is the place of attachment. Because it is the cause of fear, it is the place of fear and dread. Those are the extremes, the places of attachment and fear, meaning the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Thus, from the view of permanence arises attachment, and from the view of annihilation arises fear. Liberation from those is liberation, as before, the third. If one abandons the extreme of permanence by examining the ultimate truth, and abandons the extreme of annihilation by accepting the conventional truth, because one abandons the extremes of superimposition and denigration, this Middle Way distinction will be shown. If so, what will be obtained? "Abiding in samsara is accomplished," it is said. With wisdom not stained by the faults of samsara, and with compassion being under the control of others, samsara will also be accomplished, abiding is truly abiding. Why? For the sake of suffering beings, for the sake of the suffering beings who are tormented by suffering, wishing to liberate them from their suffering. If the ultimate truth of samsaric beings does not exist, then how does he abide? Because of ignorance, that is, inversion, it is focused on conventional beings. This also says, "For the sake of pacifying suffering, the fruit of ignorance should not be prevented." Here, the reason will be clearly explained. Therefore, the result of emptiness is this, whoever abides in samsara with compassion, but because of seeing emptiness, is not stained by the faults of samsara. This is non-abiding nirvana, it is the result of emptiness, and if there is no emptiness, there is no this. Therefore, those who wish to benefit sentient beings as long as samsara exists should cultivate emptiness. To explain all of these in a concluding manner, "Thus," and so on, were said. That is this, thus is according to the order of narration, because of fearing emptiness, it becomes the characteristic of abiding in samsara, thus refuting the side of emptiness is unreasonable, because it will be explained and answered. Thus, it should be combined with the first side, because that is so, therefore it is hesitation.
