It is said that because there is no craving, the cause of all arising is cut off, and therefore there will be no rebirth. Quoting others' thoughts, for the time being, it is said "near taking" and so on. If it is said that ignorance is cut off, then craving does not have the cause of near taking of existence, if this is assumed and determined. At that time, it should not be said like this, because for those who have attached views, it is not reasonable to cut off ignorance itself, because if ignorance exists, then cutting off craving is also impossible. Even if it is allowed to exist, it should be said like this: after saying "this existence" and so on, if there is non-afflictive craving, then how is it possible that this craving that does not correspond to afflictions does not exist in your yogis? Why not? Like ignorance, like non-afflictive wisdom. This also cannot cut off existence, so it is said "because of feeling" and so on. Because feeling is caused by contact, and craving is caused by feeling, the cause of craving, that is, feeling, if it does not exist, then if there is a cause that does not decay, its result cannot exist, how can it be said like this? If it is said that there is no faultless feeling, then craving is also impossible to exist. For those who are attached to things, faultlessness itself is also impossible to establish. Therefore, even if there is non-afflictive ignorance, craving is not admitted, even so, it is obtained by the power of reason because of the lack of realization of emptiness. Here this is the meaning of the summary: when the continuum is liberated, it is also seen that karma can give results, and craving also exists in the case where feeling exists, then there will be doubt about cutting off afflictions, how can liberation be determined? Therefore, if there is no emptiness, then the bhikkhu himself seems to be well established.

Abiding is attachment. Some may be attached to the place of manifest attachment, such as the noble truths, or to the fruits of meditating on them, thus preventing the cessation of rebirth. How can those who are likely to be reborn again attain nirvana without doubt? Therefore, to state that the emptiness that is spoken of is the cause of nirvana, it is said, "apart from emptiness," and so on. Thinking that there is no emptiness, consciousness is with an object. Cessation is being bound by the rope of attachment to the object. One will be reborn again; even if one attains it for a short time through the power of samadhi, one will still be subject to rebirth. Where else can one see such a thing? As it is said, "How without knowledge," and so on. For example, when entering the state of non-perception, even if the mind and mental factors cease for a time, one will still be reborn again. The same is true in other cases. This is just an approximation. It can also be seen as similar to the cessation of feeling and perception. Alternatively, having entered the state of non-perception and been born in the realm of the gods of non-perception, even if one remains in a state of cessation for hundreds of thousands of kalpas, once the fully ripened result of that samadhi is exhausted, the mind and mental factors will arise again. Because without emptiness, neither becoming a monk nor attaining nirvana is possible. Therefore, those who seek both should cultivate emptiness, and so "emptiness" and so on are taught. If a certain cause is lacking, the mind associated with emptiness will also arise, therefore, those who seek nirvana and other fruits should cultivate emptiness. Cultivating it will eliminate afflictions and attain nirvana, but cultivating a single truth and so on will not, that is the meaning. Because it is with an object. As it says in the Vajracchedika Prajnaparamita Sutra: 'Subhuti, what do you think? Does a stream-enterer think, "I have attained the fruit of stream-entry"?'

Do you think so? Subhuti replied: "No, Blessed One. Why is that? Blessed One, it is because he has not entered into anything. Therefore, he is called a stream-enterer. He has not entered into form, nor into sound, nor into smell, nor into taste, nor into touch, nor into any phenomena. Therefore, he is called a stream-enterer. Blessed One, if a stream-enterer were to think, 'I have attained the fruit of stream-entry,' he would be clinging to that self. He would be clinging to sentient beings, clinging to life, clinging to a person." From here onwards. The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, what do you think? Does an Arhat think, 'I have attained Arhatship'?" Subhuti replied: "No, Blessed One. Why is that? Because there is no Dharma that is called an Arhat." Blessed One, if an Arhat were to think, 'I have attained Arhatship,' he would be clinging to that self. He would be clinging to sentient beings, clinging to life, clinging to a person. This should be inferred. The Blessed One said: "Therefore, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva, a great being, should generate the mind without abiding in anything. He should generate the mind without abiding in anything. He should generate the mind without abiding in form. He should generate the mind without abiding in sound, smell, taste, touch, or phenomena." That is what was said. Therefore, emptiness is the path to enlightenment, thus it abides. The three verses beginning with "Words that enter the Sutra Pitaka" should be regarded as if they were added by some people. Because it is not timely, it is at the time of using the scriptures to make wrong inferences. The quotes such as "The root of the teaching is the Bhikshu," should be said earlier because it is a situation outside of the debate. By saying this, the debate that was just mentioned is also at the time of speaking, the author is timely.
