The word "Thus" is explained as follows: Thus, bodhi, the cause of bodhi, the practice for the sake of enlightenment is the practice of bodhi. Even if the Bodhisattva has passed away, bodhi is the Buddha himself, free from one and many, without birth, without cessation, without measure, without permanence, free from all elaborations, equal to space, known as the Dharmakaya, and is referred to as the ultimate reality in the ultimate sense. That very reality is also spoken of based on the conventional truth with terms such as Prajnaparamita, emptiness, suchness, the ultimate limit, and the realm of phenomena. Understanding from this very point, the forms of the Buddhas contemplate the nature of reality, the guides are the Dharmakaya. Since the nature of reality is not to be known, it cannot be fully understood. Thus it is said. Furthermore, it is said, without characteristics and unborn, the path of purity is unconditioned, the mind of enlightenment is equal to space, enlightenment without duality is the characteristic. Thus it is said. Among them, a being is called a Bodhisattva because of his intention. Even if he has passed away. Also, the word "also" indicates another order, that is, even if he has attained ultimate peace by not abiding in Nirvana. It means that even when the causal state changes and the resultant state is attained, it is still the same. Thus, in either case, even if completely free from conceptualization, the work of benefiting others is not diminished, this is what is being shown. Thus, even if the Blessed One is free from all objects of conceptualization and has transcended all activities of mind and mental factors, then how is it that offering to the Tathagata is praised as having great fruit? Therefore, in order to eliminate this doubt, the words "without mind" and so on are spoken, that is, offering to the Blessed One who is free from the conventional mind, this is the difference of wisdom arising from the offering. How can it be endowed with fruit, that is, how can it be connected with fruit? For the one who does not enjoy, how can the giver and the patron gain merit? The answer to this is, because he abides in... and so on, thus equality is proclaimed, this is what is indicated in the scriptures. Because where does he abide? In sorrow...

Therefore, it should also be added that "for the deceased, there will also be fruition." The entrant is the one who has not passed away from sorrow. Passing away from sorrow is becoming one who has entered nirvana without remainder. There is no difference in merit. The thought is this: merit is a form, and that which is related to giving is that which arises from giving itself. That which is related to complete enjoyment is that which arises from completely enjoying the dharma to be given. Therefore, if the Bhagavan has passed away from sorrow, because there is no receiver, it will not become the merit of complete enjoyment, but who can prevent that which is related to giving and completeness? If it is not completely received, how can it become the merit related to complete giving to anyone? If there is a receiver, it will become merit, and if there is not, it is not, what is the reason? If it is because there is no receiver at all, then that is not the reason. Because if merit is produced entirely by others receiving it, then there will be no merit in cultivating immeasurable loving-kindness and so forth and correct views. Therefore, it should be thought that by the power of one's own mind, even without others receiving it, there is merit. Therefore, for the deceased who possess qualities, even by respecting them, there is no obstacle to one's own mind turning into merit. Furthermore, regarding all the merit and demerit that exists, the scriptures say that it has been explained in the Holy Dharma. Here, what use is there for other reasons? The scriptures refer to the words of the Bhagavan. The fruit is that by making offerings to the Bhagavan, one will realize the characteristics such as obtaining great enjoyment. Regarding this, it refers to these differences in offering to the Bhagavan who has passed away from sorrow or has not passed away from sorrow. Some think that some are conventional fruits and some are ultimate fruits. In this way, by analyzing equally, it should be specifically stated that whether it is conventional or ultimate, the fruits of doing good and evil are realized from the words of the Bhagavan. Regarding this, there is no dispute between you and me. Regarding this, this Bhagavan
