If it is said that it should be treated with great caution, it is true, but this way is not to establish things themselves according to the literal meaning. Because all the scriptures are established as provisional and definitive meanings. Similarly, the Tathagata cannot be aroused with malice by any beings in the world, including gods, because for countless eons, he has habitually cultivated the heart of loving-kindness towards all sentient beings, so swords cannot pierce his body, this is to show the benefits of the heart of loving-kindness. Here, the ripening of karma is not shown on things, because the Buddhas have already separated from the ripening of karma. Therefore, this is said in consideration of the thoughts of the beings to be tamed, but it is not the ultimate truth. Harming a Bodhisattva is destroying and nearly destroying the Buddha himself and the root. In this way, it will also nearly destroy the benefits of the world, including the gods. As the sutra says, what is shown here is that, in terms of the ultimate truth, only the Bhagavan himself knows. This is also from the Sutra of the Mudra of Entering and Increasing Faith, which says: "Manjushri, whether it is a son of a lineage or a daughter of a lineage, if someone destroys or burns stupas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, or, whether it is a son of a lineage or a daughter of a lineage, if someone generates a malicious, contemptuous, and angry mind towards a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who believes in the Mahayana, and scolds them, then this person will generate countless more sins than that. Why? Because what is born from the Bodhisattva is the Buddha Bhagavan. What is born from the Buddha is the stupa, all the implements of happiness, and all the hosts of gods. If one does not show respect to the Bodhisattva, then one has shown disrespect to all the Buddhas. If one shows respect to the Bodhisattva, then one has shown respect to all the Buddhas," and so on. Also, if someone generates a joyful mind towards the Bodhisattva, then how much merit will they generate?
