Afflictions can be stopped and transformed. How can one abandon afflictions such as attachment? It is written here. If someone asks, what is unreasonable about abandoning afflictions here? The text mentions "when illusion" and so on, and here we see a reasonable cause for not abandoning. When one becomes attached to an illusory woman, that is, a woman conjured by a magician, and a mind of attachment arises. The conjurer himself is also like that. Those things that are conjured for the purpose of deluding others do not only affect others, but also affect the one who conjures the illusory woman. This is the meaning of the word "also." When some magicians who are skilled at deluding the minds of others, in order to cause delusion, will display beautiful village women. Through the power of mantras and medicines, they conjure women whose limbs and all parts are perfectly complete, possessing youthful beauty, radiant appearance, vivid and pleasing colors, and soft and tender skin. When people see this conjuration, it is not only others who will experience the mental anguish of being deluded by the god of desire, but even those who understand that this is an illusion will manifest attachment because of this beautiful and moving body that is skilled in erotic matters. When the best state of erotic affairs is attained, he cannot control his mind in any way. Since this is the case, even if he understands that this is an illusion, how can he cut off the cycle of rebirth? In order to abandon this, the text says "the conjurer" and so on. We will not be blamed for this, because the conjurer is the magician who conjures the illusory woman, and he has not abandoned or dispelled it. What has not been abandoned? The predispositions of knowable objects and afflictions. Because of falsely clinging to the nature of knowable objects and afflictions, attachment and so on arise, or because of falsely clinging to things, this is another way of saying the obscuration of knowable objects. Due to its power, in beginningless samsara, one is accustomed to experiencing the inverted state of birth and death.

It is produced from conceptualization and compounded by the stream of consciousness that has become the seed. Because it has not been abandoned. If this answer is also the same for the Mind-Only school, because they also have the two selflessnesses, but because they have not abandoned the suddenly arising habitual tendencies of afflictions, will everything not become the Tathagatagarbha? This is not the same, because it has already been said that the impurity of a non-existent self-nature, being separated from the collection of fruits, should not be an obstruction. For us, selflessness itself is what should be generated and what generates, so it is the same, because it has not been abandoned, therefore when it is seen from this cause, it is seen as the nature of the knowable, it is the object of focus. At that time, or when seeing the illusory woman, that is, at the time of the object of focus. That "it" is the seer who has not abandoned the habitual tendencies of afflictions. Regarding the emptiness habitual tendency being weak, emptiness is the suchness of things, or emptiness itself, this is the abbreviation of words, for the sake of syntax, the causes and conditions of things are erased, and it is shown as emptiness. Habitual tendency is established by being compounded, and its weakness is being separated from ability, because the nature of what is being examined is seen. Therefore, at that time, things are powerful. So how can it be reversed? Emptiness and so on have been said. Emptiness is the selflessness of illusion itself, and habitual tendency is the force established by it, it is a synonym for relying on the power of habituation. Therefore, it will be abandoned due to conflicting causes, just as the touch of cold is reversed by being close to fire, what is it? It is the habitual tendency of things, from beginningless samsara, due to habituation, grasping and clinging to things, this is habitual tendency, because it is the correct meaning and is the nature of things, while the others are false, so they are suddenly arising. Clinging to things, or clinging to emptiness, is there not the slightest difference in clinging? This is also because it has not gone beyond conceptualization. Where is it that one will definitely be liberated from all views of emptiness?
