To perceive as an animal, to perceive as a servant, to perceive as born from a servant, to generate pride in oneself, to perceive as mine, and so forth. Such various things, not understanding, are called ignorance. Because there is ignorance, attachment, hatred, and delusion arise towards objects. Therefore, the attachment, hatred, and delusion that arise towards objects are called formations due to ignorance. Individually distinguishing things is consciousness. Taking hold of the four great elements, the single form is form. The four aggregates that arise together with consciousness, the aggregates that are not form but are taken hold of, are name. That and that are name and form. The faculties that rely on name and form are the six sense sources. The union of three dharmas is contact. Experiencing contact is feeling. Attachment to feeling is craving. The increase of craving is grasping. Arising from grasping, the karma that produces existence again is existence. The aggregates that arise from that cause are birth. After birth, the maturation of the aggregates is aging. After aging, the disintegration of the aggregates is death. Dying and experiencing, together with manifest attachment, the complete inner suffering is sorrow. Speaking words that arise from sorrow is lamentation. Experiencing discomfort with the collection of five consciousnesses is experiencing suffering. Mental suffering with attention is discomfort. Furthermore, such afflictions are disturbance. Therefore, because of the great darkness, it is ignorance. Because of manifest action, it is formations. Because of distinguishing, it is consciousness. Because of delusion, it is name and form. Because of the door of birth, it is the six sense sources. Because of the meaning of contact, it is contact. Because of experiencing, it is feeling. Because of thirst, it is craving. Because of grasping, it is grasping. Because of producing existence again, it is existence. Because of the arising of aggregates, it is birth. Because of the maturation of aggregates, it is aging. Because of disintegration, it is death. Because of sorrow, it is sorrow. Because of verbal lamentation, it is lamentation. Harmful to the body

It is a place of suffering. Because it harms the mind, it is a place of unpleasantness. Because it is affliction, it is a place of disturbance, thus it is extensively said. Like that, if the causes that are closely shown are not interrupted, then action will proceed without ceasing, because the twelve links of dependent origination themselves are action. The teacher said: Like subjects, gradually continuous, from birth, through karma and afflictions, they go to other worlds. The wheel of existence has no beginning. That is the twelve links of dependent origination, in three parts. Thus it is said. If the causes are also interrupted, then in all ways there will be no cycle of existence, because the cause is incomplete. Therefore, it is not possible that even the Buddha would fall into the cycle of existence. Thus, having refuted the Sautrantikas and others for a while, in order to eliminate the wrong views of the Yogacharas, next, the faults of their system are stated. It is said, "When is delusion," and so on. When those who speak of the Middle Way acknowledge that all beings are empty by nature of being illusory, then you also do not have the wisdom to grasp the conventional truth of the illusory nature, like outsiders. At that time, what will the illusion be aimed at? What will recognize it? There is nothing other than the consciousness that grasps at what exists, that is the meaning. Or, one's own mind itself is not the ultimate truth, but it appears as such through the delusion of the nature of external objects, and there is no fault in that, that is the thought. In order to eliminate such a thought, it is said, "When you," and so on. Because it appears in the form of elephants and so on, it should be grasped, when the illusion itself is for you, it does not exist for you who speak of consciousness only, because you acknowledge beings as mind-only, so there is no external object, then what is aimed at at that time? What will appear here at that time? Because there is no external object, the appearance of being cut off on objects and so on is not reasonable, that is the meaning. To this, with the doubt of others' thoughts, it is said, "If clinging to things," and so on, one's own mind itself is deluded.
